Mere minutes after announcing her upcoming starring role on The Holiday Exchange, a LGBTQ+ holiday film, negative comments started pouring in, but in true reality television style, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards quickly quipped back a simple and effective reply. Kyle has a long list of acting credits, as her career in film and television began when she was just a child. Helping Kyle level up her ability to banter is the role most know her for, RHOBH, where she has been a main cast member since the premiere, making Kyle one of the longest standing housewives in the Bravo franchise.

Moving forward from a rough RHOBH season 12, Kyle shared her latest project, The Holiday Exchange, where she is set to play the role of a mother to one of the main male characters in the LGBTQ+ holiday romance.

While many of the comments were kind and supportive of RHOBH star Kyle Richards’ new film, others were downright hateful, with several utilizing the term “woke.” They made comments like, “Pandering to the woke mob!!” “Won’t be a Kyle fan anymore. Go woke, Go broke.” Breaking her silence while tagging the latter in her reply, Kyle clapped back with a hand-waving emoji, writing, “You won’t be missed.”

RHOBH’s Kyle Richards Has History Of Being LGBTQ+ Ally

Kyle being an ally should not come as a shock to fans. In RHOBH season 5, Kyle threw a gay mixer for all the “dinner party gays” in her life who didn’t want to find love in the club scene. The housewives were asked by Kyle to bring along their gay best friends to help solve the “drought of tops in Beverly Hills.” In June 2022, Kyle also hosted a “Celebrate Your Pride” shopping event on Amazon. Kyle’s support has not gone unnoticed, as one of her commenters lovingly wrote, “She’s been an ally, is an ally, and will keep being an ally. Through thick and thin.”

The word “woke” gets tossed around often, mainly used in attempts to negatively label those in the public eye, like Kyle. However, when breaking down the concept of this term, it means that someone is a person who is aware of racial prejudice and discrimination(s), and they are actively seeking to address the disparities within. This is actually not a bad thing, as racial, sexual, gender, age, religious, and ability-based discriminations do exist. These topics are real and should be tackled on public platforms so that everyone can see themselves represented. Kyle is doing just that, and her work as an ally will likely only strengthen RHOBH.

In her reality television career, Kyle Richards struggled in RHOBH season 12, getting caught in between sister Kathy Hilton and castmate Lisa Rinna, who accused Kathy of using a gay slur in a nightclub, an event that was not caught on camera. As an ally, Kyle found it hard to ignore these (unsubstantiated) claims against her sister, causing a rift that still exists to this day. Hopefully, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 13, which is currently filming, will further shine a light on Kyle’s new film alongside her support of those within the LGBTQ+ community while also bringing some form of closure for Kyle and her sister Kathy.
