Ollie Skelton has taken to Instagram to address the backlash he’s received for seemingly moving on too swiftly after his recent breakup with co-star Tahnee Cook.
The TV groom, 28, has faced a flurry of scrutiny from fans who claim his new relationship with Nadia came too soon following the end of his televised marriage.
Ollie’s statement, shared via his Instagram stories, comes after his followers expressed their discontent over how quickly he found new love.
‘Hey, I just wanted to speak on this a bit as I’ve gotten it a couple of times,’ he began, explaining that his relationship with Tahnee had actually concluded last November, much earlier than the public perception.
The former voice over actor expressed a mixture of frustration and resignation as he addressed the situation.
‘There has been so much press regarding our break up that it may seem fresher but personally I’m very much removed from the situation,’ Ollie clarified.
Despite the negativity, Ollie spoke highly of his new partner, Nadia, sharing heartfelt sentiments about his feelings towards her.
‘Regarding Nadia, I have never felt this way about a person. Truly,’ he confessed.
His post was a blend of personal revelation and a call for understanding, acknowledging that ‘everyone moves at their own pace and everyone’s story is different too.’
Ollie’s message also touched on the pressures of being in the public eye and the oddity of having to defend his personal life so publicly.
‘It feels so lame that I even have to pen this, it’s so not me and I don’t want to encourage a back and forth,’ he stated.
Concluding his series of stories, Ollie expressed hope that his followers would accept his new relationship.
‘I’m so happy and I hope you guys can support that but if you can’t that’s okay too,’ he shared.
Tahnee and Ollie, who first fell in love on the Channel Nine matchmaking show, announced their separation to Instagram in December.
