The Young and the Restless recap for Friday, July 28, 2023, brings a not-so-fairytale ending to Jack and Diane’s wedding day. Why have a whole night of romance when a couple has a scheme to complete?

Young and the Restless Recap Highlights

Also in this episode, Adam reluctantly bowed down to Victor, Billy played his role a little too well, and Kyle had more important things (person) to do than attending his father’s nuptials. Now let’s dig a little deeper into this episode.

Young and the Restless: Husband And Wife

After yet another blowout at the mansion, Diane (Susan Walters) and Jack (Peter Bergman) took to City Hall and officially got hitched — with Traci (Beth Maitland) being their only witness. Cue the flashbacks replaying Diane’s return and the rebuilding of their trust. Diane vowed to make Jack happy for the rest of his life.

Jack very much felt the same way. “You are my life, you are my heart, you are my love. I love you,” he told her. Jack and Diane then said their “I dos” and were officially pronounced Husband and Wife. Jack wasted no time kissing the bride.

After the wedding, Jack and Diane went home and upstairs for some hot loving. Too bad they couldn’t stay there all night. Soon they hopped out of bed, got dressed, and headed to the GCAC to follow through on their master plan.

Young and the Restless: A Club Gathering

Speaking of hot evenings, Kyle (Michael Mealor) hit the sheets with Audra (Zuleyka Silver). After they got that out of their system, Audra flipped the script to business. Kyle couldn’t help but brag about besting Adam once upon a time. Oh yeah? Audra listened closely while Kyle told her how he slow-played the player.

All the while, Ashley (Eileen Davidson) showed up at the club to meet with Abby (Melissa Ordway) to go over plans for her own wedding. Well, not really. Abby WANTED to talk wedding, but Ashley ended up whining about the trouble with her family instead. Ashley just knew Jack was throwing his life away.

Abby reminded her mom that this is Jack’s life and he needs to live it. She also insinuated that maybe, just maybe, the anger Ashley feels for Diane is really anger she feels towards herself. Cue the flashbacks replaying the love they once lost and the rebuilding of their trust.

Over near the club entrance, Tucker (Trevor St. John) was surprised to see Billy there instead of at the wedding. Surprised, why? Billy said his peace. This was not a happy occasion. “My brother is losing his mind,” Billy said.

Young and the Restless Recap: A Cold Reception

By the time Jack and Diane arrived, the whole family (sans Traci) was in the bar area. The arguments began immediately with Ashley jumping right on the hate train and having her say. This prompted the faux argument between Jack and Billy to explode. And, oh, did they put on a show!

Billy started by telling Jack the wedding was a mistake. “A leopard never changes its spots,” he said. Jack told him to leave. “Or what?” Billy retorted. The face-off shocked Ashley.

Billy left in a huff and Ashley soon followed, throwing out one last dig before heading on out. “Do you think they bought it?” asked Diane once alone with Jack. Yes. He’s sure they did. Meanwhile, at Crimson Lights, Ashley approached Billy and asked what they are going to do about Jack.

Y&R Recap: Father Knows Best

Over at the Newman Ranch, Adam (Mark Grossman) confronted Victor (Eric Braeden) about spilling the beans to Victoria (Amelia Heinle). It was a whole lot of “how could you” and “how dare you.” Adam even accused Victor of giving all the power to the enemy. Victor told his son to have a seat. Why does he perceive other parts of Newman as the enemy? They’re all on the same team. (Sure.)

“Son, you need to be put in your place,” Victor growled. “You need to be taught some humility because obviously, you can’t find it on your own.” Victor then threatened to put the brakes on the entire endeavor. The men groused back and forth with Victor hollering about Adam not being the perfect son. After they finally calmed down, Victor spoke about his fear of Adam continually retaliating against the family. He then gave Adam a drink, promised to merge the company, and offered up his tutelage for Adam, Nick, and Sharon. Take it or leave it. Adam took it. But oh, “I offered Phyllis Summers head of I.T.,” Adam said as he left. Victor then took the gym to punch the bag and blow off some steam.
