The Young and the Restless recap for Monday, December 4, 2023, brings a big kiss for Danny and Christine that Phyllis sees.

Young and the Restless Recap Highlights

Also in this episode, Phyllis berated Summer for continuing to shut her out. The Newmans debriefed after their ordeal, and Victoria and Cole dealt with the possibility that Claire is their daughter. Finally, Jill firmly pushed Billy to rejoin her at Chancellor-Winters, and he wanted Chelsea as a sounding board. Now, let’s dig deeper into what happened.

Sheet Music

At the jazz lounge, Danny (Michael Damian) surprised Christine (Lauralee Bell) with a recording of a new song. He had her listen to it with some earbuds, and she loved it.

As they shared a meal, Danny talked about his inspiration for new music, and Christine seemed annoyed to learn that Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) had served as one of Danny’s inspirations as well as her. She quickly recovered from her frustration and joked about having to share royalties with Phyllis.

On the patio at Crimson Lights, Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) and Summer (Allison Lanier) continued talking about her personal life along with work. The two women clammed up when Phyllis approached them. Chelsea quickly left, and Phyllis joined her daughter.

Phyllis wasn’t thrilled that Summer kept icing her out. She threw herself a pity party, but Summer wasn’t quite sure what her mother wanted from her. Of course, eventually, she admitted she had been shutting out Phyllis, so she opened up about wanting Chance so badly it made her dizzy.

Phyllis urged her daughter to go for what she wanted, which gave Summer pause since it didn’t sound much like the New and Improved Phyllis ™. She agreed that it didn’t quite sound like her new self, but Phyllis told Summer that life was short. The women decided to grab some dinner at the GCAC.

In the lobby, before she left, Christine asked Danny to send her a copy of his new song so she could listen to it again. As they said goodbye, they kissed just as Phyllis and Summer walked in, and Phyllis didn’t look at all pleased to see the object of her affection in Christine’s arms (remember when these two reignited their bond recently).

New Family

At the ranch, Victoria (Amelia Heinle), Cole (J. Eddie Peck), Nick (Joshua Morrow), Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott), and Victor (Eric Braeden) debriefed after their ordeal. While Victor and Nikki felt that Claire was just as much to blame for their situation as Jordan, Victoria admitted she felt sorry for Claire being lied to for so long.

Victoria and Cole left to discuss things, and Nick, Victor, and Nikki stayed at the ranch discussing the situation. Throughout their conversation, Nikki found herself glancing longingly at the alcohol in the room. She admitted she felt guilty about falling for Claire’s deception, but they reassured Nikki that she’d done nothing wrong.

On the Crimson Lights patio, Victoria and Cole talked about the possibility that Claire Grace was the daughter they thought they’d buried so long ago (read about Peck discussing the drama of his return to Y&R). They both agreed that they had to find out the truth, which likely meant a DNA test and facing Claire again.

Family Is Everything

At Society, Jill (Jess Walton) wasted no time in telling Billy (Jason Thompson) that she needed him back at Chancellor-Winters. Why? Because she felt Mamie had designs on the company, and suddenly, Jill found herself without allies. Of course, Billy enjoyed his work at Jabot, but Jill poured on the pressure (remember that Lily [Christel Khalil] and Billy broke up not too long after he quit Chancellor-Winters).

Chelsea walked in, and Jill tried to dismiss her, but Billy asked her to join them. He let her know his mom had offered him a job. They discussed the whole thing, and Jill firmly told Billy she needed him as an ally, especially since Jack had Ashley, Kyle, and Diane on his side at Jabot.
