Y&R Nepo Baby: Why That Word Doesn’T Mean What Kyle Abbott Thinks

Pity poor Kyle Abbott on The Young and the Restless. He’s been handed everything all of his life. Boo-hoo. His daddy bought him and his wife a company they could run. His daddy made him co-head of the family business. Now the world doesn’t believe he’s earned everything he’s gotten in life. How is poor, proud Kyle supposed to look at himself in the mirror? Hey, Kyle’s got an idea!

Kyle Abbott: Fast Quitting

Well, the first thing Kyle (Michael Mealor) is going to do is walk away from the job(s) Jack (Peter Bergman) dropped into his lap. Good thing he can still live at the family home, stay on the family health insurance, and use family money to pay the nanny who keeps his kid almost exclusively “upstairs.” Can you imagine if he had to worry about those bills before he just decided to quit? How could any sensitive soul like Kyle live under such conditions?

Young and the Restless: Human Resources

Then, he’s going to accept the job at Newman Media. Another family company. And one that’s actually part of his wife’s family. But this isn’t another nepo-baby position. No way! Kyle didn’t get his job because of Summer (Allison Lanier)! Kyle got his job because of Audra (Zuleyka Silver).

The woman he is sleeping with. While still married to Summer. Which is a totally, totally different thing. Getting a job because of who your father is, is childish and demeaning. Getting a job because of who your sidepiece is, is manly and empowering. Kyle earned his new position, thank you very much.

Kyle Abbott: Loyalty Oath

Kyle wanted Mariah (Camryn Grimes) to also walk away from Marchetti because Summer was a bad boss. Does Kyle know what happened at the last company where Audra worked? Audra isn’t loyal to anyone except herself. And if Kyle thinks he’s going to be some kind of exception, well, then, he’s as incompetent as the world thinks he is.
