Why Sister Wives’ Polygamy Experiment Is Obviously A Total Failure

The Brown family of Sister Wives have taken part in an interesting social experiment, with it becoming painfully obvious no one was ready for a polygamous lifestyle. Kody Brown and his four wives, Meri, Janelle, Christine, and Robyn Brown, all came into the relationship a bit naive, as they noted love should be multiplied, not divided. Now many years in and three divorces later, it looks like there may be some regrets.

The family decided to come out of their secretive shell in 2010 when Sister Wives aired on TV. Kody, a father of 18, often boasted about just how functional his relationships with each spouse were. The women, who seemed to get along for the most part, revealed that it was nice to have more than one mom and days off from their energetic husband. But as the seasons went on, fundamental issues started to pop up within the family, like extreme jealousy. Once the foundation started to crack, it became clear that not everyone was happy with the arrangement.

During the Sister Wives season 16 Tell-All, the wives, with Meri leading the charge, talked about their nonexistent moments in the bedroom. It was always a question of how and if Kody was able to please all four women, with the consensus being he probably lacked in that department. Meri, who was Kody’s first wife, revealed that their sex life had been long over even before her catfishing scandal, as they hadn’t been intimate in over ten years. No physically loveless marriage can be sustainable.

Even Kody Downplayed Plural Marriage

In the latest Sister Wives season, Kody spoke about how disillusioned he was with plural marriage. The Browns often that claimed a large family was helpful with chores, but there were multiple times their dynamic didn’t work. In the early days, Christine argued with Meri regarding the discipline of her children even though they were all moms. Since his first three wives have left, Kody has started to have a crisis of faith, doubting what he once believed.

Kody now lives a monogamous lifestyle with his fourth and favorite wife, Robyn. Even though the entire cast has agreed to film another season of Sister Wives, the dynamic will undoubtedly be different since no one currently is practicing polygamy. Christine has moved on to a new man, while both Janelle and Meri are embracing life alone. While plural marriage may work for some people, it clearly wasn’t favorable to the Browns.
