Why Sending Off Days Of Our Lives’ Last Blast Crew Is A Mistake

The current status of the Last Blast gang on Days of our Lives: the group is on its last legs…for now. Chloe and Philip relocated to New York City, Shawn’s in rehab near his mom and dad, and Belle won’t be in Salem much longer. Each of these absences is making our hearts hurt. They shouldn’t leave town. Instead, what the show needs to do is invest in them long-term.

Days of our Lives: Attachment to the Last Blast Gang

Soaps keep fans connected and the foursome at the heart of the Last Blasters — Belle (Martha Madison), Shawn (Brandon Beemer), Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin), and Philip (John-Paul Lavoisier most recently) — do just that. We’ve seen these characters grow from troubled and conflicted teens to fully realized adults with their own kids and even bigger troubles and conflicts. They’ve bonded, battled, and bedded each other.

At the end of the day, it’s hard to shake the nostalgic vibe the group gives us, especially since three of the four characters are legacies. Their parents are some of the biggest names in DAYS history, namely, Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall), John Black (Drake Hogestyn), Hope Brady (Kristian Alfonso), Bo Brady (Peter Reckell), Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston) and Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow). Their children are the next generation so they should represent and thrive. We shouldn’t be deprived of them.

DAYS: Potential for Last Blast Drama

The Last Blast teens were messy, but the argument can be made that they’ve been messier as adults. They’re now in their 40s, a time when they should be the ones causing peak chaos and so should their kids. Shawn’s extreme angst over shooting his brainwashed dad and guilt over his grandad Victor dying in a plane crash is exactly the stuff he and Belle should be dealing with. The show needs to bring their daughter Claire back to town to see her dad in such a desperate way. It’s also a plus that she can wreak havoc like no other, right?

Chloe and Philip finally reconnecting then leaving town was brutal. First of all, we knew Chloe and Xander (Paul Telfer) weren’t going to last, not with Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) having Xander’s baby. When the two reconnected, we felt the sparks instantly. Unfortunately, that’s all we saw because now they’re playing the rest of the beats off-camera, presumably.

Wouldn’t have it been cool to see Chloe and Philip build back up and achieve supercouple status once again? Maybe SORAS Parker like the show did with Holly (Ashley Puzemis) and Tate (Jamie Martin Mann) for a brand new take on the Last Blast crew?

Days of our Lives: Hit a Home Run

Don’t get us wrong. We love Jay Kenneth Johnson as Philip Kiriakis. But, this time around, the Philip that came “back from the dead” was John-Paul Lavoisier’s version. And, guess what? We weren’t mad at it. At Victor’s funeral, he crushed us with his emotional eulogy. He was hilariously sarcastic with Vivian (Louise Sorel). And he made us yearn for a Philip and Chloe reunion once again. And then they send them out of town? Hard pass. Bring him back to town sooner rather than later. We want more. There’s so much to play with when it comes to the Last Blasters. Hopefully someday soon we’ll revisit this core four.
