Why Gwen, Dimitri, And Leo Stark Should Have Been A Real Days Triangle

Days of our Lives fans knew Dimitri was up to something the minute he took an interest in Gwen. And then he and Megan admitted it. We also suspected that he was attracted to Leo Stark. And then Dimitri admitted it. Now Dimitri is bedding Leo while telling him he has to marry Gwen for the money.

Leo Stark: Caught Between A Rock and a Hard Place

Surely, Leo (Greg Rikaart), of all people, understands doing unpleasant things for the money. Dimitri (Peter Porte) insists that he has no romantic interest in Gwen (Emily O’Brien). But, well…money. And Leo, in a show of ride-or-die BFF-ness, has magnanimously told Gwen he now approves of her marriage. The story seems pretty obvious and straightforward again. When it could have been so much more.

DAYS: Three Coins in a Fountain

We realize that DAYS seems to be under the impression that only women can be bisexual, never men. But wouldn’t it have been a lot more interesting if Dimitri (Peter Porte) actually had feelings — both romantic and sexual — for both Gwen and Leo? Then the triangle would have been real. And it would have had real stakes. Sure, money is nice. But isn’t love nicer?

Leo Stark: Three on a Match

Not only would Dimitri have been torn between a pair of friends, but Gwen and Leo would be torn, too. Leo knows how Gwen suffered with Xander (Paul Telfer). Wouldn’t he want to see her happily married? And Gwen knows how low Leo’s self-esteem is. Would she want to see him with someone who really valued him? This could have been an emotional triangle in more ways than one.

Three Men and a Days of our Lives Baby

And how would Dimitri feel if one of the people he cared for got pregnant with a DiMera/Von Loeshner heir? (We think it should be Gwen.) Wouldn’t that affect his feelings? His decision? Not to mention that Leo knows how Gwen grew up without a father. He wouldn’t want to do that to her child. We had years of story potential…which now seems settled.
