What’S With Maggie Kiriakis’S Days Of Our Lives Memory Slip?

We understand that the Kiriakis family is under a great deal of strain on Days of our Lives. Victor just died, and first they thought Vivian was his heir, then they learned it was Maggie Kiriakis — and Alex. And that Alex was Victor’s biological son. A detail Victor neglected to mention for the past thirty years. Alex is, understandably, upset. Justin, who raised Alex, is understandably upset. Which is where Maggie stepped in. And matters went awry.

Maggie Kiriakis: The Medium is the Message

Maggie’s (Suzanne Rogers) intentions were good. She wanted to remind Justin (Wally Kurth) that, biology or not, Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) would always be his son. (You’d think the man with two adopted children would already know that, but it never hurts to be reminded.) The problem began with the story Maggie told Justin to illustrate that she truly believed what she was saying.

Days of our Lives: That Was Then, This Is Now

Maggie told Justin the very moving story of how she and her late husband, Mickey (John Clarke), raised Mike, even though Mike wasn’t Mickey’s biological child. They loved him as if he was. That part was true.

But then Maggie explained how it all happened. You see, Mike’s mother, Laura, had an affair with Mickey’s brother, Bill, while Laura was married to Mickey. Mickey raised Mike for years, thinking they were father and son. When the truth came out, there were some rough moments, but eventually, Mickey and Mike were able to have a wonderful father-son relationship.

Point of Order, Maggie Kiriakis

Except…that’s not what happened. Laura and Bill didn’t have an affair. A drunk Bill raped her. And when Mickey found out, he wasn’t just mildly put out. He tried to shoot Bill. And then got amnesia. Wandering out of Salem and meeting a sweet, young farm girl… named Maggie. When Mickey was finally found, he was committed to a mental hospital, where he – and the DAYS audience – met his new doctor, Marlena Evans (Deirdre Hall). It was a pretty major Salem tale. Weird that Maggie doesn’t remember the pertinent details.
