‘Y&R’ spoilers indicate that the couple decides to bribe the right people to ensure that Claire does not infiltrate the Newman clan.
Claire grew up believing that Cole and Victoria did not want her and gave her away. Her aunt Jordan Howard’s (Colleen Zenk) brainwashing and manipulation made Claire believe her lies.
Cole and Victoria were led to believe that their daughter, baby Eve, had died in the hospital. However, Jordan switched their baby with one who was dying so she could procure baby Eve.
Jordan took her away from Cole and Victoria to get revenge on the Newmans for her deranged idea that Victor was somehow responsible for her sister, Eve Howard’s (Margaret Mason) death.
When Claire was telling Victoria and Cole what it was like growing up without a mother and father and how she was told her parents did not want her, you could tell that Victoria was sympathetic.
Claire is redeemable, while her aunt is psychotic. Victoria could sense that there was good in her. However, Cole and Victoria will not just take Jordan’s word that she switched the babies at birth.
Victoria especially will be very conflicted by her sudden surge of empathy for the girl who helped her aunt terrorize the Newman family and almost kill them.
The police arrested Claire and hauled her off to jail. However, Victoria understands the circumstances that drove Claire to do what she did, and she genuinely feels for her.

Social media is buzzing with pictures of Claire and Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) together. It probably means that the mixed feelings Victoria is experiencing will prompt her to hire Michael as Claire’s defense attorney.
Claire will keep pushing the notion that she is Cole and Victoria’s daughter. But they all think Claire’s Aunt Jordan created this story to get revenge.
Cole and Victoria don’t believe it at first. However, Victoria sees something in Claire’s eyes that makes her think twice and wonder.
There will be a DNA test in Claire and Victoria’s not-so-distant future. Victor and Nikki will want the test to go their way, even if it turns out that Claire is baby Eve. The Newman couple is not above pulling DNA deception for the desired result.
When the test comes back and says that Claire isn’t Victoria’s daughter, it will set the stage for significant drama, and Claire, Victoria, and Cole will all feel the loss.
However, Cole and Victoria will find out Claire is their daughter. Victoria may overhear Victor and Nikki talking about it, or she will somehow stumble upon the truth. It will create considerable conflict in the Newman family.
