Stassi Schroeder revealed that she is unsure about how to explain her self-harm scars to her three-year-old daughter Hartford.
The Vanderpump Rules alum, 36, addressed her struggle with self-harm and credited Hartford as the reason for her speaking up, in an interview with Bustle, where she discussed her new book, You Can’t Have It All.
The mom-of-two — who also shares son Messer Rhys, 11 months, with husband Beau Clark, 44 — shared: ‘When I look at myself naked, Hartford will see a little line, and she’ll be like, “Mommy, ouchie.”‘
‘I’m like, “Oh, God, that feels dirty. How will I ever explain to her that this was something that I chose?”‘
‘It just feels like it’s been a secret, and I don’t like secrets. I think that’s part of maybe why I do what I do — podcasts, just living out loud,’ she added.
‘Because there is this feeling of: “I’m free. Everyone knows my s**t. I don’t have to hide anything.’
Schroeder believes that sharing her story for the first time will inspire others to be more transparent about their own experiences and emotions.
Stassi also took to her Instagram on Thursday to share some family vacation snaps from Rome.
One of them featured her and Hartford enjoying lunch together.
She also posted an adorable video of them riding a train together, with Hartford cuddling up to her mom and playing with her hair.
At one point the little one accidentally poked Stassi’s face, with the reality star jokingly mouthing to the camera, ‘What the f**k?’
Earlier this year Stassi shared that becoming a mother-of-two is ‘so different’ and ‘really intense’ in an interview with People.
‘I think no one properly warned me that going from one to two is harder than going from zero to one. Because now it’s like me and my husband are just like… one of them’s on the other.’
‘So there’s less time for us to just be adults. But we’re getting to the point where we fully have the hang of things. So life gets easier every day.’
She added that Hartford is her mini-me, playfully stating, ‘It’s my karma, she’s my karma.’
‘But I know how to parent her the best. I’m so equipped to, because I am like her,’ she added.
Stassi announced her second pregnancy on Instagram. She posed with Hartford on a brown leather couch as she put a hand on her growing baby bump.
The beauty wrote in her caption, ‘Secrets stress me out. Baby #2, I love you so much already.’
The star married Beau for a second time on May 12, 2022 at the Hotel de Russie in Italy.
The couple – who share podcast The Good The Bad The Baby – previously officially wed in a backyard ceremony in 2020 with few in attendance due to COVID.
They welcomed Hartford, their firstborn, on January 7, 2021.
