Though it has been some time since Jason Cook graced the daytime landscape with his presence, he has remained a busy bee with his work in multiple fields, including directing, writing, and producing. It’s an achievement worthy of celebration — as is the major milestone that he’s currently recognizing.
Happy Birthday, Jason Cook
And that’s because he was born on September 13, 1980, in Camden, New Jersey, which means th at this talented multi-hyphen is turning 43 years old today. In his youth, Cook aspired to be a pianist. However, his interest in acting developed during high school following his emergency casting in the theater department’s production of Whodunnit.
His first professional role was Shawn-Douglas Brady on Days of our Lives. Cook was well-received by the soap’s fans, especially when he was paired opposite Kirsten Storms’s Belle Black.
Cook elected to leave DAYS following a seven-year run, at which point he immersed himself fully in his behind-the-scenes endeavors, which included producing the feature-length documentary Numb to Life.
In April 2008, Cook agreed to return to daytime as Matt Hunter, M.D., a character on ABC’s General Hospital. He remained in the part for four years, at which point he returned to his career behind the camera. He also made a brief return to DAYS in 2015.
Cook’s other acting credits include episodes of The Amanda Show and Turbulent Skies, as well as films The Son of an Afghan Farmer and Dark Awakening. He has served as the host for three Miss World beauty pageants and has written, directed, and produced a plethora of films (including The Making of Triassic Park, Social Security Guard, and School Spirit). He is also a published author of Young Adult Fiction and a music video director.
