The Young and the Restless viewers know that Billy Abbott is finding his way after a long series of missteps, but he’s put all that aside in hopes of helping save his father’s legacy — Jabot. For his performance, Soap Hub Performer of the Week honors for Y&R is presented to Billy’s portrayer, Jason Thompson.

Jason Thompson: Y&R Performer of the Week

This week, Billy decided to choose sides, and he chose Jack (Peter Bergman), agreeing to team up with his big brother and Diane (Susan Walters) to try to stop Ashley (Eileen Davidson) and Tucker (Trevor St. John) from destroying Jabot. Thompson did a wonderful job portraying Billy’s divided feelings about his actions when he talked with Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan). Even though he felt somewhat bad, Billy remained determined to go through with his plans.

The whole thing got started off when Billy reacted to the news of Jack planning to marry Diane at the courthouse. Then, he followed through by not showing up at the wedding, leaving Traci (Beth Maitland) as the only one showing up to support Jack. He didn’t leave it at that, though.

After the wedding, Billy laid into Jack in front of Ashley, Tucker, Kyle (Michael Mealor), and Diane. He did not hold back, and Thompson brought the fire with an impassioned rant, decrying Jack’s choice to marry Diane. He boldly and loudly predicted that Diane would be the death of Jabot. He was so believable that Kyle even managed to step in to defend his mom despite his newfound anti-family attitude.

Of course, the whole thing didn’t end there. Ashley followed her younger brother, and it seems she hopes he’ll join forces with her. Too bad for her, she doesn’t know he already had a deal with Jack. We truly look forward to seeing where this will go next, and we suspect things will get even crazier before it’s all said and done. Bravo, Jason Thompson on an excellent performance. We can’t wait to see what Billy does next.
