Shock new photos have proved the fate of Married At First Sight couple Awhina Rutene and Adrian Araouzou’s relationship.
Awhina and her twin sister Cleo celebrated their 31st birthday on Saturday but her groom was not in attendance.
His absence from the event appears to confirm the couple’s relationship has ended – but it was fellow groom Billy Belcher who was present at the party.
Speaking to Daily Mail Australia, Awhina played coy when asked about her romance with Adrian but insisted their good moments came ‘at the cost of my needs’.
‘I think viewers are finally seeing what our relationship truly looked like. Don’t get me wrong—Adrian and I had good moments. When we connected, we really connected,’ she began.
‘But those good moments always came at the cost of my needs not being met or me brushing things under the rug. And that’s not sustainable long-term.’
She also confirmed Adrian wasn’t at her birthday party and instead celebrated groom Paul Antoine’s birthday.
‘He was in Perth the weekend of my birthday. But it’s in our contract, I can’t really take photos with my ‘husband’ if we’re still together,’ Awhina added.
She also said she has ‘built a friendship’ with fellow co-star Billy who attended her birthday party.
Elsewhere, Awhina discussed the explosive verbal fight she had with Adrian’s friend Jasmin Weston during the friends and family visit which aired on Monday night.
The embattled bride detailed her emotional state after witnessing the dramatic scenes on social media.
‘I’m a little raw right now. I haven’t watched the full episode – just enough on TikTok and Instagram – and it was pretty bad. I’m glad Cleo came in hot and heavy against Adrian and his family,’ she said.
Awhina also opened up about her twin sister’s fierce defence during the showdown.
‘We appreciate my twin sister so much for defending me. I love her so much, but I was still really upset that I put her in a situation where she needed to defend me so strongly.’
Reflecting on the tense atmosphere, Awhina recalled: ‘My memory of that day is that I walked into an interrogation. I felt like I had three people in front of me who didn’t care what I had to say, taking my voice away.’
‘The approach was loaded. They didn’t give me time to respond, and their body language said it all.’
Awhina did reveal that Jasmine recently reached out to her and apologised for the explosive confrontation.
‘Jasmine reached out to me a couple of days ago and apologised. I’m grateful she’s holding herself accountable. But I’m disappointed that her apology came just days before the episode aired,’ she said.
‘I would have loved to hear from her a couple of months ago when her friendship with Adrian ended. My feelings are still really raw.’
Awhina also explained how Adrian made her feel ‘invisible’ on the show.
‘I felt invisible when he chose to leave over the promo, when he went and saw Sierra, and when I was so defeated during family & friends week,’ she explained.
‘My partner wasn’t offering any comfort; it was like he was relishing the interrogation.’
Awhina concluded by highlighting the unwavering support she has had from her inner circle.
‘My support network at home is so beautiful. I love my friends and family. They’re finding it hard to watch right now because of all the tears,’ she said.
