Sarah Michelle Gellar took to Instagram this week to announce that she’s wrapped filming the upcoming Dexter prequel.
The 47-year-old Cruel Intentions star will appear on the show alongside Grey’s Anatomy alum Patrick Dempsey, 58.
Sharing two photos with her 4.6 million followers, she posed in a white T-shirt that read: ‘Extra anchovies, please…’
Gellar, who is married to actor Freddie Prinze Jr., said in the caption, ‘For my last day of the season with @patrickdempsey I obviously had to wear something special. Who recognizes it???’
The top was a reference to his 1989 Loverboy romantic comedy, in which he played a pizza driver-turned-gigolo.
The film sees a young Patrick in his role as Randy Bodek, a college student who must move home and find work after doing poorly in school.
He lands a gig as a Señor Pizza delivery driver, and eventually forges a successful escort side business, with clients asking for ‘extra anchovies’ as a code phrase.
Sarah’s post has racked up nearly 40,000 likes.
Back in September, she teased her and Dempsey’s upcoming drama series by sharing a selfie of them on social media.
Referencing his beloved Grey’s character McDreamy and her hit teen series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, she captioned the photo: ‘The crossover you didn’t know you needed (#McBuff?!??!?).’
The trailer for the prequel to the serial killer’s story, Dexter: Original Sin was released in mid September and stars Patrick Gibson as Dexter Morgan.
The storyline follows the evolution of Dexter from a ‘student to avenging serial killer’ as he grows up in Miami in the early 1990s.
An official synopsis reads: ‘When his bloodthirsty urges can’t be ignored any longer, Dexter must learn to channel his inner darkness. With the guidance of his father, Harry, he adopts a code designed to help him find and kill people who deserve to be eliminated from society without getting on law enforcement’s radar.’
The summary continues, ‘This is a particular challenge for young Dexter as he begins a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department.’
Christian Slater plays Dexter’s dad while Sarah plays CSI chief Tanya Martin.
Christina Milian will also appear in the forthcoming program.
And Molly Brown, Debra Morgan, James Martinez, Alex Shimizu and Reno Wilson round out the cast.
