Kyle Richards shed new light on what prompted her separation from Mauricio Umansky with a series of posts shared to her Instagram Story over the weekend.
Months after the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills couple’s split was first confirmed, and as Kyle, 54, and Mauricio, 53, reunited with their daughters for some family time at Los Angeles’ The Grove, Kyle reshared messages posted by a viewer, who suspected the 2022 death of her best friend Lorene negatively impacted her marriage.
“Please click on this [and] swipe through these posts. .. Everyone knew I was dealing with this. For whatever reason it wasn’t shown on camera YET. This will be addressed very soon,” Kyle wrote in a caption of a December 3 post on her Instagram Story, which featured a screenshot of another post.
In a message shared by Your Bish Therapist, the person behind the account shared their assessment of the moments that led up to Kyle and Mauricio’s separation.
“This is my intuition about what was/is happening with Kyle. I believe she experienced depression and anxiety following the suicide of her best friend, Lorene,” they wrote. “This loss was significant, due to the closeness of the relationship and the nature of her death. Losing someone as a result of a mental health crisis will rock your world, and in some cases, your sense of self. I believe Kyle is experiencing [survivor’s] guilt and carrying shame/blame that isn’t hers to carry.”
In another screenshot of Your Bish Therapist‘s post shared by Kyle, the person suggested that the RHOBH cast member’s marriage was likely impacted due to Mauricio’s inability to be there for her in the way she needed him to be.
“After this loss, I believe she expected emotional support from Mau that he was incapable/unwilling to provide. I think this left Kyle feeling disappointed, resentful and betrayed, due to her years of commitment and dedication to the marriage,” they stated. “I believe Kyle felt so many intensely painful and scary emotions that she realized she needed to do something with it, and she desperately wanted to avoid unhealthy coping mechanisms due to her family history of addiction.”
Although Kyle’s resharing of the message seemed to suggest she agreed, in full, she clarified that she felt her now-estranged husband simply didn’t know how to console her after Lorene’s passing.
“However I do believe Moe tried to be there for me. Although, I’m not sure anyone knew exactly how to be,” she explained.
As she let her fans and followers into what may have caused her and Mauricio to take time apart, Kyle reunited with Mauricio and her four daughters, including Farrah Aldjufrie, 35, Alexia Umansky, 27, Sophia Umansky, 23, and Portia Umansky, 15.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 13 airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
