One Callie Torres Trait No Calzona Fan Would Ever Forgive Grey’S Anatomy For

She wasn’t fair to Arizona at all.

There are very few couples that almost every Grey’s Anatomy fan has rooted for. Meredith and Derek, Mark and Lexie, and of course Callie and Arizona.

Not only were they the first homosexual relationship on the show, but they were also extremely well suited to each other, making everyone happy for them when they got together and extremely hurt when they broke up.

Although the majority of fans believe that Callie and Arizona should have stayed together to the end no matter what struggles they faced together, some think that Callie’s behavior towards Arizona wasn’t always so great and fair. Not just during the infamous long and nasty custody battle for their daughter Sofia, but long before that.

And Sofia’s father was also the central figure in that conflict.

The thing is, when you decide to have a child with your best friend, with whom you also share a bed, while in a relationship with a woman, things can get really complicated.
For Callie Torres, it did, and she wasn’t the best at getting her priorities straight (no pun intended). Although it was clear that she always loved Arizona, she didn’t always act like it.

On several occasions, Mark’s inappropriate comments and general attitude toward both Arizona and Callie bothered the former. But no matter how outspoken she was, Torres didn’t rush to make things right. She had all the power to put Mark back in his place and make sure both of her loved ones were comfortable with the situation, but she never did.

Instead, she let her relationship suffer while her friendship continued to flourish.

Don’t rush to hate Callie too much for this, though. The issue of best friends inappropriately interfering in a relationship has been present with other characters.

For example, Meredith had no problem getting into Alex Karev’s bed, just as Cristina had no problem getting into hers and Derek’s. The characters not setting boundaries feels more like a writing problem than a character problem.

To see if some of the show’s newer friendships will suffer from the same problem, tune in to Grey’s Anatomy Season 20 on ABC. Stay tuned for the release date announcement.
