Once You’Ve Noticed This Blue Bloods Detail, You Can’T Unsee It

Remember the feeling you had after you were first told that you can always see your own nose? You’ll have it again after you realize this funny Blue Bloods detail.

A plethora of things contributed to Blue Bloods ‘ immense popularity. While it can look like your average cop show at first glance, Blue Bloods utilizes some fresh angles and approaches.

The most obvious is definitely the family-centered approach, and it comes with its own already-iconic attributes.

The Reagans’ famous Sunday family dinners are the staple of the series — and a pretty unique element of the show, at that.

The only other series that has similar mandatory family dinner scenes that comes to mind is Gilmore Girls with its Friday Night Dinners which had a slightly different concept (i.e. they were forced upon the family members).

However, in Blue Bloods, the Reagans enjoy these moments of union that the family dinners provide — and most fans love these scenes, too.

Granted they are included in every episode, so that’s all good… But that creates a different problem.

As the Blue Bloods actors admit, shooting the Sunday dinner scenes is exhausting: in most cases, they take an entire day as multiple angles and takes are needed.

At the same time, as you might know, the food on the table is real, and the actors do eat it… Every take, hour after hour, they have to keep eating the food.

Of course, every actor started coming up with their own way of dealing with this situation — and if you pay attention to how the cast is interacting with their food in the dinner scenes, you’ll be amused to notice the funniest patterns.

For instance, in the earlier seasons, Donnie Wahlberg’s Danny Reagan was exclusively eating mashed potatoes. In every take of every family dinner!

Then, Wahlberg likely read a different healthcare article: in season 9, he would only eat cucumbers. Seriously, you wouldn’t see Danny with anything but a cucumber there.

At the same time, Henry was constantly buttering his toll as if his life depended on it, and Jamie rarely consumed anything but green beans.

So, everyone pretty much found one major food to chug on and kept going with it, ignoring everything else.
Sometimes, you can see that most of the actors are too fed up (literally) for and with these games, and they just sit there pushing food around on their plates.

Can’t blame the cast: they literally have to sit there eating on-camera for the entirety of the day.

But it’s still funny as hell, and once you notice these patterns, you can’t unsee them!
