On today’s Days of our Lives, Megan DiMera gets Li on her side. Her pitch: bring Stefan down by any means necessary.

Days of our Lives Recap Highlights

In addition, Stefan (Brandon Barash) and Gabi (Camila Banus) failed to interest EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) in a truce, Bonnie (Judi Evans) barely managed not to blab Sarah’s (Linsey Godfrey) secret, Sloan (Jessica Serfaty) volunteered her womb to Eric (Greg Vaughan), and Nicole (Arianne Zucker) was left blindsided by her bestie’s taste in men. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.

Megan DiMera Attempts To Interest Li In A Spot Of Murder

No sooner had Li (Remington Hoffman) returned to his apartment after slogging through a no-good, very bad morning than Megan (Miranda Wilson) came calling. Despite his better instincts, Li welcomed her inside.

Megan addressed the elephant that is the power struggle brewing at DiMera Enterprises, and Li quipped that she must be there representing her brother EJ’s interest. On the contrary, Megan was there to represent her own interest.

What’s more, she’d come to get Li on her side. Oh sure, she’d heard from Gabi that he’d promised to vote on her behalf, but why humiliate himself by going out of his way to help the woman who’d thrown him over for another man?

Megan knows all too well what it’s like to be slighted, rejected, and to lose someone you love to another who’s unworthy — and she’s got a plan in mind that would benefit both her and Li. A plan that would see her ascend to the top spot at the family company and clear the way for Li and “the widow DiMera” to reunite.

That’s right, Megan’s seriously considering killing her own brother. Make that half-brother. A half-brother that she truly despises. “Inferior stock” and son of a “psychopath” all that. For the time being, Li hedged his bets. After all, why involve himself in Megan’s machinations?

Days of our Lives Recap: Planning & Plotting

Opposite the above, Gabi and Stefan opined to EJ that Megan and Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) were amassing power [make that votes] to ensure their ultimate victory at the expense of the three of them standing in the room and suggested pooling their resources — or, as Stefan so succinctly put it, it was time for them to bury the hatchet [and not in each other’s backs] and form an alliance.

Unfortunately, EJ couldn’t be swayed. Sometime later, after “Stabi” has stalked back to their room to grouse about EJ’s arrogance, EJ had the opportunity to eavesdrop on a very telling phone conversation between Megan and Li. One in which she demurred that with Li’s help, her brother wouldn’t be long for this world. Dun, dun, dun!

Days of our Lives Recap: Close Call

At the Kiriakis mansion, Xander tried his damndest to fathom why Bonnie — who swore that she’d forgiven and very nearly forgotten his kidnapping of her while dressed as a huge hulking harlequin — freaked out when she saw him. A freak-out that included screaming and jumping back like she’d been scalded.

Bonnie covered with a tall tale about an oncoming cold she didn’t want to share, and she very nearly got away with her lie. But then, Xander received an alert on his phone that led him to declare, “oh, she’s pregnant.” How do you know she’s pregnant? Demanded Bonnie. Xander wondered who she thought he was talking about. Bonnie assured him she meant the same woman he was talking about. Nicole? Yep, most definitely Nicole.

But how did Bonnie know that Nicole was pregnant? Lady Whistleblower’s column had just been published. Turns out Bonnie’s a Lil’ Blower — the nickname for fans of Lady W who pay 4.99 a month to get all the hot gossip hours before the general public. Xander approves. Good thing he A-okayed that particular revenue stream.

Talk then turned to Xander’s involvement with Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin), and Bonnie demanded to know just how involved the two of them were. Why does she care? Pshaw. She very much doesn’t. That said, she is curious [big difference].

Xander teased that he doesn’t kiss and tell, and that really set Bonnie off. Kiss? Kiss? Has he kissed Chloe?! Yes, three times. Well, maybe only one time counts; she slapped him the other two.

“Xander, you are making a huge mistake, and you need to stop this kissing business with Chloe immediately,” warned Bonnie. Why? “Because of Sarah!” Huh? Well, it might hurt Sarah’s feelings if the news got back to her.

Xander insisted to Bonnie that Sarah didn’t give a damn about him and what he does and vice versa, Bonnie made a crack about Sarah’s “condition” and then had to scramble, and finally, the two parted. Once alone, Bonnie offered a wry observation: “After Sarah has the baby, you’re both going to feel very differently.”

Days of our Lives: Old-Fashioned Kiki

After a terse run-in with Eric, Nicole headed for The Spectator, where she and Chloe caught up on their pretty eventful lives following the latter’s resignation from Basic Black. When the facts of Nicole’s complicated pregnancy were laid bare, all Chloe could wonder was whether or not Nicole wished Eric was actually the father.

When the subject of Chloe’s *ahem* association with Xander came up, Nicole blanched…then proceeded to list Xander’s lengthy rap sheet. In response to the blackening of his character, Xander suggested that it was sour grapes on Nicole’s part as she’d had her shot with him and blew it.

Meanwhile, at the Brady Pub, Sloan complained about her brother’s plight, and Eric brooded about having his chance at fatherhood snatched away yet again. Harboring a spot of guilt, Sloan floated the idea of the two of them trying for a baby. If EJ gets to be a father, why shouldn’t Eric?

As for Eric’s answer? “I love you.” “Better than a no,” sighed Sloan. Eric insisted that this was not something they had to rush into. Plus, the timing isn’t ideal. Sloan half-joked that he’d know where to find her when he was ready to become a father. Eric quipped that he’d keep that in mind and that she’d definitely be the first to know.
