Martin Speaks On Writers’ Strike Impact On Hotd, Conveniently Ignores His Own Unfinished Book

Looks like someone has gone on his own writers’ strike years ago.

After what happened with the Game of Thrones finale, fans were relieved to hear that all of the books that House of the Dragon is based on are complete.

If you weren’t there to share the agony that the fandom went through in season 8, you might not understand how big of a deal this is and how happy fans are to know that the prequel won’t suffer the same fate.

Also, no one could deny a little reassurance from George R.R. Martin himself when it comes to the writing of the series.

Of course, the writers are doing a great job portraying the characters and their stories in a way that is suitable for television, but having the actual author of the original world heavily involved in the production gives fans even more hope for a successful outcome.

As the HBO producers have already done, George R. R. Martin once again mentioned in his blog that the production of House Of The Dragon Season 2 will not be affected by the current writers’ strike.

It turns out that all the scripts were already done a long time ago and went through up to 5 iterations between him personally, current runners, and HBO before being approved.

“There will be no further revisions. The writers have done their jobs; the rest is in the hands of the directors, cast, and crew… and of course the dragons,” the writer teased.

While fans are willing to wait as long as it takes for the next season premiere of House Of The Dragon to live up to the quality of the first one, there is one thing they feel they have waited long enough for.

That is, of course, The Winds of Winter book, which should give the displeased fanbase a sense of accomplishment with the Game of Thrones franchise.

Unfortunately, there is no way to prove that the author’s view of the story would be completely different from what we saw on our screens, but viewers doubt that they could be any more disappointed.

George R.R. Martin has explicitly stated that the book remains his number one priority, but fans are taking this with a grain of salt.

And it is a fair doubt: considering how many years of work have gone into The Winds of Winter, one can only imagine how much more can be done.

While the novel is still being written, you can check out the Game of Thrones adaptation by streaming it on MAX.
