Married At First Sight couple Rhi Disljenkovic and Jeff Gobbels have opened up about a surprising moment during their Homestays Week which didn’t make it to air.
The pair, who had previously dated before appearing on the show, revealed Rhi, 34, had introduced Jeff, 40, to her family – and they were thrilled by how it went.
‘We actually caught up with Rhi’s family… They asked about our future together,’ Jeff told 9Entertainment.
‘When my family saw me with Jeff and how comfortable we were they were definitely relieved,’ Rhi added.
They added one of the key reasons their relationship was so strong was they avoided the drama other couples got involved in.
‘The only drama we’ve been involved in was to do with the other couples, not anything to do with Jeff and I, we’re coasting,’ Rhi said.
Rhi and Jeff’s relationship is still going as strong as ever.
The couple, who took the next step in their romance during the Homestays when Jeff gave his bride a key to his apartment, were loved up prior to the reunion.
Filming the upcoming episode in Sydney recently, they flew in from Melbourne together and seemed very much a couple.
They recently opened up about what really went down at the couples retreat, revealing that friendships were pushed to the brink as tensions boiled over.
Speaking exclusively to Daily Mail Australia, the reality TV couple admitted while the retreat was meant to be a ‘circuit breaker,’ it quickly turned into a pressure cooker, exposing fractures in relationships and testing cast alliances.
‘It was good to get out of the bubble,’ Rhi said.
‘Spending every hour of the day together really does take people out of their comfort zone. It definitely tested relationships – both marriages and friendships.’
Jeff echoed her sentiments, adding, ‘I think the friendships were tested more than the relationships.
‘Whenever we get into a group environment, fireworks happen. This week was no different.’
Meanwhile, the couple reflected on their own journey, admitting they felt grateful to be in a strong position amid the ongoing chaos.
‘Watching all the drama unfold, you feel grateful for your own relationship,’ Rhi said.
‘At the start, we thought there was no hope of progressing. We’ve come a long way.’
Rhi also opened up about the pressure of balancing normal life with newfound fame.
‘One minute you’re in a makeup chair on live TV, the next I’m putting groceries into the car and doing all the PA things I do for my friends. It’s like I’ve got two different hats,’ she laughed.
Jeff admitted things looked a bit different for him: ‘You’re on TV one minute, the next I’m taking the ladder off the car and walking into a construction site.’
Elsewhere the couple admitted they were feeling a rollercoaster of emotions rewatching their experience.
‘You kind of have to take a deep breath and remind yourself that it’s already done and dusted. But it still brings up a lot of feelings that you felt at that time,’ Rhi admitted.
