Lucinda Light has opened up about her regrets after appearing on Married At First Sight earlier this year, admitting she felt blindsided by the experience.

Speaking to this week’s Stellar, Lucinda, 43, confessed that her decision to join the show was a spontaneous one, made during a tough time in her life.

‘To be honest, it was a very spontaneous decision,’ she revealed, explaining how she came across an online ad for the show during a personal and professional slump in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

‘It felt like a giant slap from the cosmos to do something wild. I was living a very quiet life and was very underwhelmed by my dating prospects,’ Lucinda admitted.

In a surprising twist, the reality TV bride confessed that she had never actually seen an episode of MAFS before signing up.

‘My truth is I haven’t really watched television or plugged into that world for a few years,’ she said.

Despite her lack of familiarity with the show’s notorious reputation, Lucinda took the plunge, only to discover that it was a steep learning curve.

‘It became the greatest crash course in human behaviour I’ve ever taken,’ she quipped, reflecting on her time in front of the cameras.

Interestingly, Lucinda also noted that the show had been an unexpected learning experience for viewers, with fans of all ages – including teenagers – reaching out to say how much they had learned about relationships from watching.

‘It’s a great educational show because it showcases how to do relationships – and how not to do relationships,’ she remarked.

It comes after Lucinda recently shared insights into her journey on MAFS and how she has adjusted to life after the show.

Lucinda, who resides in a quiet coastal town along the Great Ocean Road, admitted it feels surreal when she is now recognised while travelling to bigger cities.

‘The amount of opportunities that have come my way has been beyond my wildest imaginings,’ she told Daily Mail Australia.

‘I live in a quiet coastal town, so mostly I’m keeping things normal on a domestic level—cooking, enjoying nature, and getting good sleep. It’s still quite surreal being recognised when I’m in Melbourne or elsewhere.

‘I love the exchange of love in those moments when someone greets me like a long-lost friend. It’s so beautiful actually.

‘The other day I had a concreter around to do some work on the house and he made me laugh so much with his shock and delight – “It’s you Lucinda, it’s you!”‘

Lucinda also spoke candidly about the biggest lesson she learnt from the experiment.

‘I learned some humbling things during my time on the experiment,’ she explained.

‘It was a significant growth spurt and continues to be. One lesson that stands out is to not be such a leafblower!’

Reflecting on the overall experience, Lucinda expressed nothing but love and appreciation.

‘I absolutely loved the whole experience! It has been incredible, encompassing the full gamut of emotions—it was tough, hilarious, filled with breakthroughs, humiliation, joy, hope, and disappointment – the lot!

‘I loved all the cast and crew, and every day was a new adventure. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity and an utterly unique experience. What you put in is what you get out!’
