Married At First Sight UK couple Jenna Robinson and Zoe Clifton have announced they are engaged after two years of dating.
The pair, who were the show’s first lesbian couple, were strangers who met for the first time at the alter in the Channel 4 experiment.
Taking to Instagram, Jenna proudly showed off her huge diamond ring after Zoe got down on one knee – and how the proposal almost didn’t go to plan.
Jenna revealed: ‘We’ve been keeping a little secret… A week ago, the absolute love of my life asked me to marry her.
‘From thinking Zoe had just gone overboard for date night to Bobo setting himself on fire, it was perfectly chaotic and very “us”.’
Jenna expressed her disbelief in finding such a deep connection, saying: ‘I didn’t think this type of love existed.
‘To have someone who loves, cares, and respects you as much as you do them is incredible. Now I get to marry my best friend instead of a stranger!’
The couple acknowledged the role of the show in their love story, thanking Married At First Sight UK for setting them up on the wildest first date ever.
Jenna added, ‘I adore you, Zoe. We are going to make the cutest little old married lesbian couple ever! What a way to celebrate Pride month.’
Despite initial clashes, including disagreements over Zoe’s vegan lifestyle, Jenna and Zoe overcame their differences to become one of the strongest couples from their season.
Speaking to The Guardian, Jenna exclaimed: ‘How lucky are we that this worked out? When we’ve got a family, we can show our kids the moment our eyed first met. It’s absolutely wild.’
The pair were the first lesbian relationship to feature on the show, and Zoe opened up about how it added an underlying amount of pressure on their relationship.
She explained: ‘You feel an obligation to represent and I wasn’t sure how. Later, I realised that just showing a healthy respectful lesbian relationship on TV is enough.’
Zoe added that the pair received so many messages from mums saying it had helped them understand what their daughters were going through.
They join a select few in making their reality TV romance work in the real world like Tayah Victoria and Adam Aveling from season six, who married last Christmas and now share a daughter.
Owen Jenkins and Michelle Walder from season five also married in March 2020 and welcomed their first child in December 2023.
