Married At First Sight bride Jacqui Burfoot has been left red-faced after she was called out over a humiliating lie by her back-up match Rory Lehmann.
During Tuesday night’s shock episode, Jacqui turned the tables on husband Ryan Donnelly by meeting up with Rory, another potential match the expert found during the audition process.
The pair appeared to hit it off and Jacqui later told Ryan, 36, they had exchanged phone numbers to keep in touch.
However, Rory has now refuted Jacqui’s version of events and said he never gave her his phone number.
‘She said at the end, “Oh, we exchanged numbers.” We didn’t!’ Rory told MAFS Uncensored.
‘I said no, I don’t feel comfortable giving my number to a married woman. A little stitch-up.’
Jacqui later shared a video to social media in which she admitted she and Rory had not exchanged contact details and explained why she said they had.
‘Rory and I didn’t exchange numbers, the catch up was just friendly. Not potential marriage material there,’ Jacqui began.
‘I gave him my number in case he had any questions about filming. We didn’t even text, I do not have his number and have not spoken to him since. I did not care to.’
Jacqui then explained why she had told Ryan she had exchanged numbers with Rory.
‘By the time I got back to Ryan’s apartment it was so late, literally after a massive day of filming. Ryan was like, “there was no exchanging numbers?” and I was like “Who cares if there was?” It’s either a date or not,’ Jacqui said.
‘I knew if I told Ryan I gave Rory my number he would blow his head off because he is so jealous!’
It comes after Jacqui shocked Ryan during Tuesday’s episode by going on a date with another match.
The pair were allowed to meet with another potential love match the experts had found during the audition process – so Jacqui met up with Rory for drinks.
After a fun date, Jacqui reported back to Ryan, who was absolutely shocked she had agreed to meet with another man.
‘Tell me a little bit about him. You said at the start of the experiment we didn’t match up aesthetically… so I am curious about what he was like,’ Ryan demanded.
Unfortunately for Ryan, Jacqui showered her new match with praise: ‘He was a really lovely guy.
‘Really sweet and open-minded on everything, the conversation flowed really easily. I felt happy!’
Ryan then asked Jacqui if she felt that Rory was her true ‘match’ on the show.
‘I don’t know why you want to know so much about him. Are you getting jealous?’ Jacqui shot back.
She told the cameras that Ryan was clearly jealous of her newfound connection: ‘Ryan was definitely jealous I went on a date! He always gets jealous about other men.’
Jacqui added she was pleased with Ryan’s reaction because it proved how much he cared about her.
She later told the cameras that while both of their new matches were ‘nice people’, they didn’t share the incredible ‘history’ and bond she had with Ryan.
The dates actually brought them closer together, with Ryan agreeing to move back into their apartment.
However, Jacqui and Ryan are no longer together and she is now living with their MAFS co-star Clint Rice in Tasmania.
Married At First Sight continues Wednesday at 7.30pm on Channel Nine.
