Eden Harper has revealed that she thought Timothy Smith was going to be the ‘villain’ of Married At First Sight.
The reality TV star, 28, dished on her time on the 2024 series of the dating experiment and shared her early thoughts on her co-stars.
Jack Dunkley was famously viewed as the show’s ‘villain’ by viewers for his shocking ‘muzzle’ comment towards Lauren Dunn and string of other controversial remarks.
However, Eden admitted she originally thought Timothy – who was paired up with Lucinda Light on the show – was going to be the ‘villain’ of the series.
Her revelation came when MAFS stars Ella Ding and Domenica Calarco told her that Tim Calwell thought Timothy was going to be the ‘villain’, prompting her to agree.
‘I thought that in the first two weeks! I thought Jack would be the worst put I also thought Timothy would be up there with him,’ she confessed on the Sit With Us podcast.
Eden explained that Timothy’s ‘cold’ attitude towards Lucinda at the dinner parties made her think he was a ‘bad guy’ at first, before she got to know him better.
‘But then he really did take a turn. We never saw the behind closed doors stuff, which was when he was really sweet and lovely,’ she continued.
‘At the dinner parties, he was always quite cold to Lucinda and really combative and arguing with everyone, so we all just thought he was a bad guy!
‘But that turned when we got to know him on the level that Lucinda would have behind closed doors.’
Timothy famously had a ‘slow burn’ bond with Lucinda on the show and they struggled to pursue a physical connection in the early days of their romance.
Lucinda struggled with feeling rejected by Timothy and the pair failed to see eye to eye and clashed in their communication styles as they navigated their romance.
Fans started rooting for them as they gradually became closer and grew fond of each other, but they ultimately decided to go their separate ways before Final Vows.
However, Timothy and Lucinda formed a sweet friendship during their time on the show and have remained very close since filming.
Elsewhere on the podcast, Eden also reflected on her shock break-up with her MAFS partner Jayden Eynaud.
The couple went their separate ways after filming, with fans stunned to learn of their break-up not long after the reunion aired on Channel Nine.
Addressing the break-up, Eden broke down in tears as she admitted she was left shocked and confused by the split.
‘It’s hard talking about it honestly,’ an emotional Eden said. ‘There are just so many questions and I never really got answers to majority of them.
‘I really just wanted him to sit there and say “I made a mistake and I f**ked up”.’
Eden, who met her partner on season 11, previously confirmed their break-up on Instagram after eight months together.
‘When I made the decision at final vows to be with Jayden, I really did that with the intention of it being forever,’ she began.
‘Jayden & I spent many months together after the experiment, Cub gained a dad and I gained a whole second family who I’m truly grateful for.
‘I’m saddened to share that toward the end of the show airing, our relationship came to an end. The reality is, the person I chose, didn’t choose me.’
‘Whilst I’m disappointed that what you saw didn’t translate in the real world, I will never regret this experiment, the people I met, the lessons I learnt and the growth it has had on me.
Later, Jayden released a similar statement, posting: ‘Sometimes in life, things don’t always go the way you had hoped for.
‘After the experiment, Eden and I went back to the Gold Coast and continued to enjoy living our lives together and getting to know each other every day.
‘However, unfortunately, our relationship ended not long before the end of the experiment airing.
‘As sad as it is, I’m so glad I got to go through this with such an amazing woman and a beautiful son [DOG EMOJI]. You will both always have a second family on the Gold Coast.’
