Married At First Sight season 17’s Austin Reed has been trying to make things work with Becca Haley, but things may not end well for them after an explosive argument in the upcoming episode of the series. While Austin and Becca’s relationship has been one of the most interesting to follow throughout the season, their marriage has been suffering from Austin’s inability to move forward with more physical intimacy, which has left Becca feeling rejected. Austin has shared that it’s not for a lack of wanting, but after Becca has tried repeatedly to propel forward, the couple has been stuck.

In a preview from US Weekly, the Married At First Sight season 17 stars are shown arguing about the way Austin feels Becca’s complaints about him have made him look on the series. “I care about how you’re feeling, but, like, I think it’s unfair to characterize me as this terrible person,” Austin explained in the clip. Becca shared she hasn’t been trying to make Austin look bad, countering, “I talk about what a great person you are.” Austin, still hurt, tried to stress, “The words you use to describe me aren’t for sure any that I’ve been described as.”

“That’s what millions of people are going to see about me [on the show].”

Austin Claims Becca Is Making Him “Look Bad”

While Austin and Becca have been circling the same argument for the duration of their relationship, Austin has gotten more sensitive about the way Becca speaks about him in recent episodes of MAFS. “I have an opinion and when I express it and it’s not the same as yours, it’s automatically considered combative,” Austin explained, stressing that the way she speaks about him makes him look bad on screen. “Those words matter…that’s what millions of people are going to see about me [on the show].” Becca validated his feelings but noticed he cared about the optics over her concerns.

The argument Austin and Becca have been having over their time together on Married At First Sight hasn’t been the only strain of the same issue seen on the series this season. While Austin and Becca have been patiently trying to figure out their intimacy issues, the other couples on the series have been touching on the same problem of optics, as well. Brennan Shoykhet and Emily Balch, who have struggled in their marriage as well, have been facing a similar predicament with Brennan convinced Emily is trying to make him look bad on MAFS season 17.

With Married At First Sight season 17 coming to an end, Austin and Becca only have a short window to figure out if they’re going to continue their relationship after Decision Day. While the couple have made it clear they have issues they need to work through, it’s possible they may decide to work on their marriage and try to continue their relationship instead of throwing in the towel. Regardless of their choice, the couple have been one of the most open and honest about the issues they’re dealing with on Married At First Sight season 17.
