Married At First Sight got stuck into Richard Sauerman during Sunday night’s commitment ceremony after he and partner Andrea Thompson decided to call time on their TV marriage.
After enduring weeks of tension and mismatched feelings, it was clear Australia had had enough of Richard’s shenanigan and viewers took to social media to vent.
‘You win some, you lose some, I guess,’ wrote one fan on X, formally known as Twitter.
But everyone was as objective.
‘Richard is just as bad as Jack, he just got away with it with his playing the victim and BS tears,’ wrote another.
‘I’m going to miss Andrea she was so lovely, but I’m thrilled Richard is leaving with that sleazy gross scarf collection,’ commented one more.
‘Richard and Andrea are a perfect example of why you don’t have sex with someone you don’t know,’ wrote another.
Elsewhere, others questioned Richard’s accountability.
‘My question is, why is no one calling out Richard for the way he gaslit Andie to a point of lashing out & doubled down to make her feel bad while using her trauma as a weapon against her?’ wrote one fan.
‘Richard still can’t understand that Andi wasn’t into him because he showed her things about himself that she didn’t like and HIS EGO cant handle that,’ added another.
Speaking to 9Entertainment following their exit, Andrea said, ‘There wasn’t just one ick with Richard, it was a few things and I was trying to work through them’.
‘It was little thing after little thing and I think Richie just got frustrated because he wanted what we had,’ she explained.
One of those ‘little things’ was during Intimacy Week when Richard was ‘very vocal about [their] sex life in quite a harsh way’.
