Married At First Sight viewers have been left divided over Polly and Adam’s romance during their disastrous honeymoon – with many accusing him of leading her on.

The reality show has returned to E4 for a brand-new series and after three hugely successful runs, two BAFTA nominations and even a baby, the upcoming fourth series is set to bring more love and drama than ever.

The latest episode of the E4 show saw Kent based careers adviser Polly, 28, on her honeymoon with barber Adam, 33, from Nottingham.

The couple consummated their marriage on their wedding night but after Adam showed her no physical intimacy during their honeymoon she started to become insecure.

Adam told her that he was a ‘slow burner’ when it came to relationships but did later admit she wasn’t his ‘type’.

On the honeymoon Holly asked him: ‘So we went into it on the wedding night, and now it hasn’t happened all week.

‘It would obviously just be nice for me to hear from you, like your head is kind of at the moment.’

Adam replied: ‘There’s nothing on your part. It’s I know it’s a bad thing, but it’s not you, it’s me. I feel like it can change.

‘I do like you and I’ve got to know you I’ve realised how amazing you are and how good of a person you are.’

Polly replied close to tears: ‘That was really sweet. I just haven’t heard such a positive praise from someone or a partner for so long.

‘The fact that you are after such a short space of time, it’s huge.’

And viewers were left divided over their future as some said they were a bad match while others thought he was leading Polly on.

They penned on X: ‘#MAFS I think #Polly is far too good for #Adam. Here’s a thought – don’t give someone mixed messages and sleep with them if you are unsure! Adam wants a skinny brunette! Clearly that’s worked well for him in the past. Give Polly a chance – she’s beautiful & seems lovely.’,

‘Polly seems like she’s willing to accept whatever scraps Adam will throw at her because she’s been treated badly in the past, and Adam knows it. #MAFSUK #mafs.’,

‘Polly stop taking the breadcrumbs Adam is offering you. Raise your standards babe! He’s giving you the bare minimum and you’re ready to drop your knickers again. You deserve better than bowl head! #MAFS #MarriedAtFirstSight #MAFSUK #MarriedAtFirstSightUK.’,

‘Polly is giving Adam too much power. He fancied you enough to sleep with you. Tell him you ain’t got time to waste and you don’t have to wait on him either #MAFSUK #MAFS #MarriedAtFirstSight #MarriedAtFirstSightuk.’,

‘Polly, have some self respect & stop embarrassing urself asking adam if he finds u attractive every 5 minutes.’,

‘Polly leave Adam now. You are wasting your time, he doesn’t deserve you #mafsuk #mafs.’,

‘Adam was going to go in on Adam for just wanting to get his end away because he knows he doesn’t like Polly, however she knew that as well and went for it. #mafs #MAFSUK #mafshysteria.’,

‘Adam on MAFS has a cheek really. Polly is lovely and doesn’t deserve to be made to feel crap by someone with an inflated ego. So many red flags.’

It comes after viewers were left furious and questioning the experts’ matchmaking skills, after ‘shallow’ groom Adam declared he was ‘not attracted’ to his bride Polly.

The match was less than perfect, with the groom dropping the bombshell that he was ‘disappointed’ with his bride, leaving some fans fuming.

When the couple came face to face for the first time at the altar, Polly was quick to talk up her new partner and express that she was pleased with the match.

However, Adam remained noticeably silent, leaving Polly’s best friend annoyed that he couldn’t pay a compliment to his wife.

In a confessional, he went on to say: ‘I wasn’t instantly blown away when I saw my bride.

‘I’m worried that I haven’t got that initial wow factor. I am a little bit disappointed.’

After exchanging vows, they went on to have their first pictures taken as a married couple, and Adam again expressed his concerns privately.

‘Taking the photos with Polly and getting really close, I don’t want to say it’s awkward but it feels a little bit weird,’ he admitted.

‘Attraction is really important to me. If that doesn’t grow, I don’t know what’s going to happen.’

Meanwhile, unaware of his reservations, Polly exclaimed she believes the couple ‘couldn’t have been matched any better’.

Noticing what was going on, Polly’s best friend decided to have a chat with Adam, where he candidly revealed that she is not his ‘usual type’.

He explained: ‘Normally my ex-partners have been dark hair, I normally go with girls who I think ‘Oh my God, you’re unreal’.

‘I feel like as you get to an age, you don’t want to settle for what you think is ‘okay’. Everybody wants that perfect person.’

Fans took to X after the awkward scenes unfolded, to slam the ‘shallow’ groom and the matchmaking choices, penning:

‘Sorry but what kind of matching this season. None of the guys fancy the women nawaoo. #MAFSUK.’

‘Lmao naa Adam is so shallow wow. #MAFSUK.'(sic).

‘Too many average looking men in this series unhappy with how the women they’ve been given look. I mean that acorn haired dude with the glow in the dark teeth needs to have a good hard look in the mirror. #MAFSUK.’

‘Finding it mildly triggering that you’ve got two men who’ve openly said their ‘preference’ is petite women – and the producers have matched them with mid-plus-sized gals and now they both feel they need to beg and convince them to be attracted to them #mafsuk.’

‘How do I complain to Ofcom genuinely, why would they put these lovely women with such rude gremlins #MAFSUK.’

‘There’s a real epidemic of average looking men demanding “10/10’s” like they’re gods gift #MAFS #mafsuk.’

‘It’s absolutely wild how the UGLIEST men on this show are the ones with the boldest, and entirely incorrect, opinions on women. I’m so sorry to all straight women who have to date heterosexual men like this. #MAFSUK.’

‘It seems to be more about the backstory than the matchmaking #MAFSUK.’
