Christmas can be a tough time and one Married at First Sight UK bride has opened up about her own festive struggles. Laura Vaughan, who appeared in the 2023 series of Married at First Sight UK, has revealed she spent some of Christmas on her own.

Posting to her Instagram story Laura explained she found the festive season “overwhelming” and she struggles “to find my place in the world.” She said: “If I’m being honest with you guys, Christmas has always been a weird time for me. I struggle to find my place in the world, particularly at that time of year and so I actually spent some of the festive period alone.”

Laura added: “Since losing my dad, and not being as close with people as I could be, I find the pressure of December in general really overwhelming. And a little stifling. I know I have people in my life who love me, but I just struggle to reach out around Christmas as I never want to be considered a ‘burden’.”

During her time on the E4 show, Laura was married to Arthur Poremba and their marriage did not start off well when Arthur admitted he copied and pasted his vows from Google. The couple continued to work on their relationship, with Laura often becoming a shoulder to cry on for many other brides and grooms too, however, Laura ultimately decided at final vows to end the marriage.

Explaining her decision to leave Arthur, Laura said: “I expect not everyone will like or even understand my decision. That’s ok. You weren’t there. You didn’t feel what I felt. I meant what I said, I’ve always been a ‘fixer’. Arthur and I had grown so much as people, but the more we grew as individuals, the further we grew apart from each other. When a relationship is no longer bringing the best out in each person and it becomes a struggle to stay on the same page, that’s when decisions have to be made for the sake of both parties.”
