Married At First Sight stars Cameron Merchant and Jules Robinson have shared a harrowing family hospital experience.

The couple, who appeared on the 2019 season of the popular Seven reality show, revealed they had to rush son Oliver, four, to Northern Beaches hospital on Monday night.

Taking to Instagram, Cam, 40, shared an image that showed Jules, 42, doting on her injured son.

Little Oliver sat bravely on a hospital bed sporting a plaster on his face while Jules offered him a treat.

Cameron explained that his son was a little overzealous during play time.

‘Didn’t expect to be here on a Monday evening,’ he wrote.

‘3 stitches later side of cheek…balance beam fail…tough lesson…balance better.’

Cam also shared a short clip showing a very brave Oliver happily playing with toys in the children’s ward at Northern Beaches Hospital.

Panning around to reveal a room festooned with cartoon images on the walls, Cameron questioned why adult wards could not offer a similar vibe.

‘I don’t understand why adult hospital wards aren’t as happy and uplifting as kids wards that create surroundings that calm, distract & reduce stress,’ Cameron wrote.

Jules also took to her Instagram to share a short clip that showed the patient happily chatting in the car after leaving the hospital.

Captioning the cute clip, Jules revealed that it was her little trooper’s fourth hospital visit in as many years.

‘3 stitches later,’ she wrote.

‘He is such a little bruiser. 4 big hospital runs in 4 years. Stacked into the balance beam at day care. He was so brave.’

The 2019 Married At First Sight lovebirds, who have gone to strength-to-strength since the show aired, welcomed Oliver in October 2020.

They then added to their family, in July last year, with the arrival of their second son Carter James.

Confirming his birth, Jules shared an array of heartwarming snaps of herself, Cam and their son Ollie doting over the newborn baby.

The proud mother said the name Carter ‘holds spiritual significance by embodying leadership, wisdom, responsibility, and creativity, representing service, ideals, and community spirit’.

After almost six years together, Jules and Cam recently opened up about their experience on MAFS and revealed how it can leave participants a ‘shell’ of a person.

‘The reason why we feel it did go so well for us was because we did so much work on ourselves as individuals prior. So the universe was like, “Okay, now you’re ready for it”,’ Cam told Yahoo Lifestyle in August.

Jules added: ‘We’re forever grateful for our experience.

‘It was tough, we both broke into tears in there, but we’re really grateful for such a fun, amazing experience that led to all this.’

The pair also acknowledged the ‘dark side’ of reality TV and how the show can have a negative impact on participants.

Cam insisted if a potential participant doesn’t ‘work on themselves’ beforehand, they will come out ‘even more of a shell of a person’ than they might have been going in.

‘If you’re going in there with half of an understanding of who you are, what you stand for, who you’re not, you get lost in the wash and you come out thinking, “Geez, was that worth it?”

There’s so much to it,’ he added.
