Married At First Sight’s Matt Jameson, who graced our screens in the 2021 series, has taken to social media to pay a heartfelt tribute to his high school friend Eve, who tragically passed away from a brain haemorrhage. Her partner initially announced the sad news, revealing that she had suffered a headache and died on Sunday 28 July as they were preparing to go out.

Matt reposted the announcement and added his own touching words: “I’m so sad to hear of the tragic passing of Eve who was an amazing friend to me in high school. I will always remember the incredible support Eve gave me as the first person I came out to at the age of 15.”

“A beautiful person in and out,” he wrote further. “My thoughts and prayers go to your husband, children, family and friends at this devastating time.”

The reality TV star’s Instagram followers quickly responded with messages of sympathy, reports OK!.

One user commented, “That’s heartbreaking news, so sorry for your loss,” while another shared their empathy, saying, “So sorry to read this, having lost my mum in the exact circumstances, I truly get the pain of such an unexpected loss.”

Celebrities also chimed in with their condolences, with Emmerdale’s Ash Palmisciano expressing, “So sorry to hear,” and his co-star Lisa Riley sending “Sending strength and love.”

Amy Christophers, Matt’s fellow MAFS participant, also reached out, commenting: “So sorry for your loss babe xx.”

Matt, who made history on MAFS UK in 2021 as half of the show’s first-ever same-sex couple with his husband Daniel McKee, shared their sad split after two years. He opened up to The Mirror previously: “We fell in love, we had a great relationship, I don’t want to take that away. I had an incredible experience being on the show, and me and Dan enjoyed that journey together.”

“It is a shame that things didn’t work out for the long term, but that pressure and feeling like you’re letting the community and the fans and everybody that supports you down. And that’s why it was so difficult to put that [break-up] announcement out back in December last year.”

Reflecting on the emotional impact, Matt added: “I was upset anyway because I was heartbroken. I was in love with Dan and I’ll be honest with you, I didn’t want us to separate but circumstances were that that needed to happen, so having that added pressure was quite intense, and even more so upsetting. It’s like any relationship that breaks down and any relationship where you fall out or you separate, you have that hurt because either one of you doesn’t want to or it’s a difficult time anyway.”
