A Married At First Sight intruder wedding was thrown into chaos after it was revealed Jacqui Burfoot secretly messaged Jeff Gobbels behind husband Ryan Donnelly’s back.
Now, Daily Mail Australia has exclusively obtained the text messages at the centre of the scandal on Monday night’s episode.
In the shocking messages, Jacqui reached out to Jeff, asking for wife Rhi’s number so she could ‘clear up anything negative’ she may have heard.
‘I genuinely have no ill feelings towards her and haven’t said anything bad to anyone else – only positive, that she’s such a nice person!’ she wrote, attempting to downplay any tensions.
However, her true motives became clearer in further texts, where she admitted she was carefully planning how to control the narrative on camera.
‘I’m deffs putting myself first and I think the best way to do that is to let him continue to show himself on camera over time,’ she wrote.
Daily Mail Australia understands that Jeff immediately told his bride Rhi about the text exchange, and Ryan was only told about it for the first time during the wedding.
The revelation of this secret exchange came to a head at the wedding of MAFS intruders Beth Kelly and Teejay Halkias, where a fiery confrontation erupted.
The drama kicked off following a tense Commitment Ceremony, where multiple couples were left questioning their relationships.
While Morena and Tony attempted to turn over a new leaf, and Billy and Awhina dealt with their partners’ emotional betrayals, Jacqui and Ryan’s marriage was once again on the rocks.
Despite vowing to press the reset button on their relationship, Jacqui changed her mind overnight.
Determined to ‘teach’ Ryan how to be the husband she wanted, she compiled a ‘rap sheet’ of his shortcomings, blindsiding him and sparking yet another heated argument.
Ryan was left reeling when Jacqui told him she didn’t even want to be considered his wife anymore.
Amid the turmoil, Jacqui made a controversial move – reaching out to Jeff for private advice.
