Married At First Sight’s Dan Hunjas was left stunned when his daughter was attacked by a kangaroo.

The star of the Australian dating show has revealed he took his daughter, Keeley, on a family trip to the zoo when she was just a toddler but things soon turned dark. Taking to Instagram, the star, 43, shared a snap of his daughter, now 18, as she was mauled by the large Australian beast.

In view of his social media followers, Dan explained that on the day, he simply wanted a dad and daughter day but he had not anticipated what would happen later on. Addressing the incident, he explained that the zoo, which he didn’t name, had an outdoor enclosure, meaning guests could get up close and personal with some animals.

He explained that the outdoor enclosure was for the “friendly wildlife” to roam around for guests to pet the animals, as well as feed them. Dan stated that when he and Keeley first came across the kangaroo, it was “really friendly and sweet” before he leaned back to capture an image of his daughter with the animal.

“As I hit the button, this kangaroo’s just gone whack and like latched onto my daughter’s face and started like shaking her,” he said. He went on to add: “In that moment, I dropped the camera. I launched at this roo and got her off my daughter. Anyway, this thing turned around, started attacking me. So now I’m in the fight with this kangaroo while simultaneously trying to see if my daughter is ok.

“Anyway, I managed to push this kangaroo off, get a clean shot on it which made it hop away, grab my daughter and check her face and I expected to see you know blood and gashes and eyeballs ripped out. All these things that your imagination takes you to.” Dan continued: “Only to realise that she did not have a single mark on her which is so so so lucky. Anyway, no one was hurt, everyone was fine… We got the cool pic, we got a funny story and we all lived to fight another day, especially the kangaroo who woke up and chose violence that day!”

Dan’s followers couldn’t believe the tale, with one penning: “I heard he was hopping mad that you got involved.” A second added: “Why did I just have a mental image of you and a big red going pound for pound,” alongside a laughing emoji. Meanwhile, a third typed: “Lucky he didn’t come back with his gangaroo!”
