Married At First Sight Star Emem Obot Is Engaged To Brandon Williams: ‘Decided To Go For It’ (Exclusive)

Married at First Sight star Emem Obot is headed down the aisle!

In an exclusive clip of the show’s March 4 episode, the reality star accepts boyfriend, Brandon Williams’ surprise proposal.

During the episode, the couple heads out on a romantic date at a sketch cafe, where they chat, kiss and enjoy dinner. Emem reflects on the pair’s quick romance, noting that her previous experience on the reality show has given her the courage to jump headfirst into their relationship.

“If I had not gone through the process of Married at First Sight, I probably would not move this fast, even though things didn’t work with me and [Ikechi Ojore],” Obot said in a confessional.

“I know that I still want to be in a partnership and Brandon is putting it all out on the table, and that’s what I want,” she added. “That’s what I came into this experience for.”

After their date, a producer asks Williams on camera, “What’s next” for the couple,” which prompts him to wave her over. After giving her a kiss on her forehead, he tells her, “I want to tell you something,” to which she responds, “Uh-oh.”

But her fears are alleviated when he drops to one knee, grasps her left hand, and asks her, “Will you marry me?” Obot immediately smiles and responds, “Yes,” as the couple shares a hug and a kiss.

A producer then asks Obot whether she was “scared at all” to enter marriage again, to which the reality star says, “I am not scared. He’s made it very clear that he [wants] this forever.”

In a separate statement, Obot tells PEOPLE: “Love is not a feeling, it’s a commitment. The feelings were real and happened with God’s timing. We saw a bright future and decided to go for it.”

“Being from the same neighborhood and understanding one another made our match easier,” she added. “Having met for the first time on a blind date neither one of us could have expected things to blossom into the love we share now. Love at first sight is possible.”

Obot previously appeared in Season 18 of Married at First Sight — which aired on the Lifetime network last year — where she wed Ikechi. Despite the pair making it down the aisle, their marriage was fraught with several challenges and tension, and the pair eventually split.

Married at First Sight — produced by Kinetic Content — airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on Lifetime.
