Married At First Sight star Beck Zemek has broken down in tears after revealing she is pregnant with her second child.
Beck shared, back in December, that she and fiancé Ben Mitchell had suffered a heartbreaking miscarriage.
Taking to Instagram on Thursday, the 31-year-old Perth-based influencer shared a video, shot back in March, that showed her reading her positive pregnancy text.
Beck could barely contain her emotion, breaking down in tears as she saw the positive result.
‘After a silent miscarriage and a D&C, finding out I’m pregnant again has brought a mix of emotions I didn’t know I could feel all at once,’ she captioned the clip.’ Joy, fear, hope, anxiety…they all live here now.’
‘This journey hasn’t been easy, and every day I’m learning to sit with the unknown while still letting a little light in. But it’s been HARD.’
Beck continued: ‘At this point in time I remember thinking I just wanted to know how far I am so I know how far I need to go.
‘I’ll share over the next few days what the last 2 months have looked like and get you up to speed, but for now let’s just start with this.’
She followed the clip with a second, filmed more recently, telling her 98,000 followers: ‘So today we are going to find out how far along I am in my pregnancy.
‘This has come as such a surprise to Ben and I, honestly since my D&C, my period hadn’t come back regularly it was like it was back in my PCOS [Polycystic Ovary Syndrome] days’
Continuing, Beck admitted that the news had conjured up mixed emotions.
‘Obviously a lot of exciting emotions but a lot of hurt and I guess fear as well, which is normal, I knew that it would probably be this way but I didn’t expect to fall pregnant so quickly so I am really blessed and grateful for that,’ she said.
A silent miscarriage refers to a pregnancy loss where the body hasn’t yet expelled the pregnancy tissue.
Meanwhile, a D&C refers to a surgical procedure – dilation and curettage – used to remove tissue from the uterus.
Beck’s followers were quick to congratulate the reality star on her news.
‘Feeling all the feels, this new chapter will be a great one no doubt,’ one offered while another chimed in with a similar: ‘Happy tears. You deserve this so much, I am so happy for you.’
Summing up the sentiment of many, a third shared: ‘Actually balling my eyes out watching this.’
Beck shared a clip to Instagram in December in which she informed her followers she had suffered a miscarriage.
‘I can’t get my words and thoughts together, so I’ll just write them. At a routine check up, I experienced a silent miscarriage in my second trimester,’ Beck began.
‘The next moments were surreal. The baby had stopped growing, but my body hadn’t realised yet. There were decisions to be made. Decisions no one prepares you for. Decisions that make the whole thing feel painfully real.’
Beck said the mother’s body continues to prepare for birth even after the foetus has lost its viability.
‘Your belly is still round, your hormones still remind you of pregnancy, and yet, you mentally have to come to terms that life has ended.
‘I was caught in a limbo. No longer pregnant, but not ready to say goodbye. It’s a grief like no other, but what I’ve come to realise is the love I felt for that tiny life is real, no matter how brief it was.
‘We’re just going to try to heal and work through this and move forward.’
She thanked her family and friends for supporting her during the difficult time, just two weeks after she and Ben hosted a baby shower in Perth to celebrate her pregnancy.
Beck rose to fame on MAFS in 2021 where she was unsuccessfully paired with Jake Edwards.
Their union failed after she cheated on him with her ex-boyfriend during filming.
Beck and Ben welcomed their first daughter, Immy, in May 2022.
Shortly after giving birth, Beck said she was not immediately trying to lose weight.
She said during an Instagram Q&A that new mothers should ‘stop putting pressure on your body to do more than it just did’.
Beck then referenced four photos she had posted earlier in the day of her postpartum body one to four weeks after giving birth.
‘The pics you saw were pics of my uterus going down, not me losing weight,’ she added.
