Ashley Irvin is set to have her happily ever after.
The nurse, who starred on season five of Married of First Sight in 2018, announced her engagement this weekend after a romantic Valentine’s Day proposal.
The 36-year-old shared a series of images to Instagram showing off her diamond ring and the stunning waterfall backdrop where her man, Choco O’Dwyer, popped the question.
‘Best Valentines Day Ever. I said Yes’ the former reality star wrote in her caption.
The photos and video clips showed the couple enjoying champagne and a picnic of chocolates, strawberries and salami sticks by the water.
Choco got down on one knee at the stunning mountain setting, with Ash dressed casually for their hike in navy blue activewear.
The couple popped a bottle to celebrate before heading up some rocks for a fun hike, Ash wearing her new ring with pride.
Ashley had been paired with Troy Delmege on MAFS but the pair split before the end of the season.
After choosing to split at their vow renewals, Troy enjoyed a nine-month romance with another bride from his season: Carly Bowyer.
Ashley and Troy remained friends, however, and occasionally caught up for drinks after the show ended.
At a get-together, the former couple took to Troy’s Instagram Stories to answer burning questions from fans, with one asking: ‘Did you truly love Ashley?’
Ashley said to Troy in the video clip: ‘What do you mean did? It’s not past tense, you still do right?’
‘We’re actually still legally married right now, we never went through a divorce,’ Troy quipped.
‘We thought one day there might be a chance we’d come back together and it’s actually happened.’
‘Today’s the day,’ Ashley joked.
In 2022, Ashley officially graduated from Queensland University of Technology as a registered nurse.
The former flight attendant shared the exciting news to Instagram at the time.
She also posted a reel of photos from her big day, as she revealed she had ‘a grad position at the Gold Coast Hospital’ lined up.
‘I can’t believe I am officially a graduated registered nurse! Hardest two years of my life! I could not have done it without the amazing support behind me!’ Ashley wrote.
‘Honestly my family and friends have kept me going through some tough times between full-time uni and full-time work! I cannot thank them enough!
‘I am also so lucky to start a grad position at the Gold Coast Hospital in April! I might even start cosmetic nursing in January just to keep busy.’
She revealed her new career path back in 2020 when she lost her job as a Virgin Australia flight attendant at the start of the Covid pandemic.
‘So excited to be starting my graduate degree in nursing next year at QUT,’ she announced on Instagram at the time.
‘Covid kind of made me re-evaluated my life and I’m so glad it did. I am going to try and do full-time nursing and full-time flight attendant, so wish me luck.’
