Controversial Married At First Sight bride Jacqui Burfoot has revealed that she tried to quit the show because she was not ‘mentally well’ during filming.
In a new interview the 29-year-old, who was matched with Ryan Donnelly, said things got so bad for her she felt she was ‘incapable’ of making decisions for herself.
She also admitted to feeling ‘unstable’ and resorting to locking herself in a private room.
Jacqui revealed her heartbreaking experience during an intimate chat with Yahoo Lifestyle on Thursday.
‘This is embarrassing for me to say, but I was not mentally well [during filming]. It’s not funny, it’s not a joke, and that’s a really tough thing to do because it’s very humiliating and it feels like I’m a laughing stock,’ she said.
‘So it’s very challenging on myself. It is hard, it’s not easy. It’s very embarrassing and a lot of people would probably just not want to get out of bed ever again.’
Jacqui said during production she was crying so much she had to get a private room and for a time refused to participate in filming because she was too upset.
Elsewhere in the chat she said: ‘I was in the mind frame of, “I’m broken. I can’t move. I just want to sleep. I want you to leave me alone.
‘I don’t know what’s going on. I feel confused. I need to process things and I don’t know what I’m doing.”‘
Jacqui admitted that close to the end of filming she had ‘packed her bags’ to leave.
After crying constantly for hours, she claims a producer convinced her to stay and ‘go out on a high’ she said.
‘It was just really tough for me… So it didn’t really ever seem like a viable option to just leave’ she recalls.
She added during her tell-all that watching the explosive season go to air has been ‘extremely difficult’.
Jacqui described the edit as a ‘sick joke’ since it makes her crying look ‘fake’ and turned her into a ‘laughing stock’.
It comes after Jacqui broke her silence after it was revealed she had rented a flash $200-a-night Airbnb for Homestays Week.
The bride took to Instagram on Tuesday to defend her decision not to show her actual home on the show, claiming ‘security and privacy is important’ when you’re a ‘single lady’.
Jacqui posted a video of herself posing in a green, floor-length Rat & Boa dress, worth $495, on a beautiful balcony overlooking some palm trees.
‘For anyone curious, this was taken at my actual Manly apartment,’ the reality star captioned the post.
‘As a single lady, security and privacy is important to me and my friends,’ she wrote.
‘I didn’t [sic] feel comfortable opening my home up to all of Australia.
She continued: ‘Just so you know the ‘apartments’ the couples live in are actually also decorated hotel rooms.’
The bride went on to remind her fans that Homestays Week isn’t about introducing your partner to your home, but rather doing things together that you usually do outside of the experiment.
‘Homestays is about getting to know someone in their usual neighborhood doing usual activities.
‘If you care about the actual homes you should watch a show like The Block, not MAFS lol,’ she ended the post.
The reality star went on to share pictures of her bedroom in a number of mirror selfies, as well as another balcony shot at her Sydney abode.
Jacqui was caught out in an embarrassing Homestays Week lie as Daily Mail Australia revealed that the luxurious Manly property she welcomed Ryan Donnelly into on Monday night was actually a rented Airbnb.
