Another Married at First Sight UK couple has thrown in the towel, as Paul Liba explained why it didn’t work out with TV wife Tasha Jay.

The couple met at the altar during season 8 of the dating show and continued their relationship after the Final Decision stage. Last month, the reality TV stars confirmed they’d gone their separate ways in an Instagram statement.

Now Paul has given fans a few more details regarding their separation. He said the split boiled down to the distance, as he didn’t want to leave London to move to the North of England to be with her.

“I’m doing alright, but it was tough,” he said during a London event he attended alongside fellow MAFS and Love Island stars (via the Daily Mail).

“I’ll be honest – I spent the year with someone, joined at the hip, and then you split up, you’re finding yourself again. But we’re on good terms, and I’m enjoying life right now.”

He continued: “My issue was figuring out if Tasha was the right person to move up North for. I’d say if we lived in London it might be easier, but to sacrifice my life and drop everything for her is a big move, and I just wasn’t sure about it. And that was the issue.”

Paul also said that he and Tasha couldn’t find “a middle ground” and it was “kind of sad”.

“Tasha is extremely close with her family. She has all her nephews and nieces, which she loves,” he said.

“I had my family and my friends, and I’m always busy with boxing. I think if there was a middle ground, but we just couldn’t figure it out, which was kind of sad.”

After his relationship with Tasha, Paul is open to new romances as he intends to find “the right person”.

In November, it was Tasha who announced they’d broken up in an Instagram Story.

“It is with a heavy heart that I am announcing Paul and I have decided to part ways,” she wrote.

“There isn’t any major reason, we have just come to terms with the fact that we are not right for each other.”

She called Paul “the loveliest guy” she’d ever met, while he reposted her message and added: “the most loving and caring woman I’ve ever met”.
