Married At First Sight UK star Nathan Campbell has broken his silence on his split from Lacey Martin.
On Monday night’s reunion show he revealed the couple’s shock private conversations in emotional scenes.
The brides and grooms from the dramatic 2024 series reunited in a special episode for the first time since leaving the show – but things quickly turned to chaos.
On the episode Nathan claimed his ex Lacey told him they should have a ‘showmance’ after the experiment.
Despite being one of the only couples to make it through the entire experiment – last November it was reported that they had secretly split.
The 24-year-old engineer from Somerset and Hertfordshire-based office manager, 27 were lucky enough to have a union on the show that was relatively plain sailing compared to some of their co-stars.
But now dramatic reunion scenes have shown how things took a turn after filming stopped.
At the explosive dinner party during the reunion he admitted to the boys that Lacey told him they should continue their romance for fame and ‘magazine deals’.
Teary-eyed he said: ‘I was so gutted when it ended, I thought our marriage was going to last forever.’
Telling her side of the story however, Lacey said: ‘People are going to be shocked that it was Nathan that blocked me, I just feel that he gave up.
‘Him just blocking me like I’m nothing hurt me, I just tried so hard.’
Chatting to his co-star Kieran, Nathan went on to explain: ‘After the experiment she was completely different.
‘I was going to see her every weekend, she never came to see me once in the whole relationship, never. She said ‘I think it’s best we be friends’, she ripped my heart out.’
‘She just decided it was better to be mates, it was a bit one-sided. It goes into something that’s not genuine.’
He then added: ‘Shortly after she messaged me and said after a year you get magazine deals and things like that, showmance.
‘She sent me a text message saying the relationship she wanted would be a pretend one so she could get more opportunity from it and make more money but I didn’t want to do it.
‘It’s a bit embarrassing, I don’t really want to talk about it to be honest.’
His pals were shocked as he shared the news with them.
Last November The Sun reported that the duo secretly called it quits after filming ended.
A source told the publication at the time: ‘Nathan and Lacey really tried to make their relationship work in the real world but it just fizzled after a while.
‘The final vows were filmed in February and they were still going strong in April when the reunion was shot, but since then they have called in quits.
‘They were both sad it didn’t work out, but sadly it wasn’t meant to be.’
However, there are some characters missing from the reunion including Charlie Curtis, who previously revealed she was ‘really upset and disheartened’ after being brutally axed from the reunion episode for allegedly ‘being boring’.
Charlie told MailOnline: ‘I wasn’t invited.’ She was with wife Eve Reid on the show but they are no longer together.
Revealing how she found out about she wasn’t included, she explained: ‘So obviously we had a group chat, everyone was talking about the reunion and was like my invite must have got lost, it’s in the post because I’m not coming.
‘Then I got a call from CPL and they said my story is over so like there’s nothing to follow.
‘They asked me who do you talk to, is there any charm you have with anybody, I said no, I’m boring aren’t I?
‘So they didn’t invite me, so I was like, ‘cool.’ If I went in and said ‘I got beef with this person, I got drama with this person’…
‘I should have just lied for the extra air time! Damn. No. Everything happens for a reason, I wasn’t meant to be there. I’m over it.
‘If anything I’m in a new relationship. It might have been a bit weird to be there.
‘Obviously Eve wasn’t going to turn up so for them, so what are you going to do? Sit there like a spare thumb.
‘The back of my head looked great in the last one.’
