It wouldn’t be Married At First Sight without some serious drama, and this time, it’s Awhina Rutene and Adrian Araouzou bringing the fireworks.
Confessions Week is designed to bring couples closer – but for these two, it’s more like a one-way ticket to disaster.
The infamous Ex-Files task kicked things off, forcing the newlyweds to confront their romantic pasts.
And let’s just say, things got heated fast.
Adrian outright refused to participate in the letter task, leaving bride Awhina questioning his motives.
‘I didn’t do it,’ he scoffed, while Awhina, clearly frustrated, shot back, ‘You didn’t do it? You are not getting my letter.’
Adrian then explained: ‘I feel like the moments that changed me, I don’t want to share with anyone.’
The confrontation reached fever pitch when Awhina questioned why Adrian was being so defensive if he had nothing to hide.
‘I didn’t want to talk about anything. [I’ve] got no secrets, and if they’re secrets, they’re my secrets,’ he said.
‘There’s no one else. It’s not for her, it’s not for anyone’, he told cameras.
Another task saw Adrian get exposed on camera for lying about his past, after he was confronted with the question, ‘Have you ever cheated on a past partner?’
Awhina admitted to kissing a stranger in a bar in her early 20s.
She went on to say she told her ex straight away and they moved past it.
Adrian chastised her over the admission, saying there was no excuse for cheating.
He then insisted he’s never cheated on anyone.
However, a quick word from a producer has him looking sheepish quick smart.
‘What if I say I’ve seen your application?’ she asked off camera.
He went on to reveal he maybe hooked up with someone while ‘somewhat’ still seeing an ex.
