Married At First Sight’s Melinda Willis has lifted the lid on her dating life following her split from Layton Mills and shared why her and Tahnee Cook’s friendship suffered a blow.

In a detailed Instagram Q&A with fans Melinda confirmed that she was no longer close friends with co-star Tahnee Cook after unfollowing her on social media.

When asked why she’d unfollowed Tahnee, Melinda kept mostly tight-lipped but shared this cryptic quote: “Remember, you don’t need a certain number of friends, just a number of friends you can be certain of.”

Fans were also keen to know what was going on in Melinda’s love life and the former bride wasn’t shy about spilling the details.

“I’ve been on two [dates] since breaking up with Layton last NovemberšŸ—‘šŸš®,” the 34-year-old wrote.

Melinda’s inclusion of two trash emojis was a good indication that the dates weren’t successful.

One follower asked Melinda if she was “still hoping to find the right man”.

Melinda had a very candid answer saying, “If he exists, send him my way please. Slowly giving up hope šŸ˜¢.”

It wasn’t the first time Melinda had addressed her breakup with on-screen husband Layton.

The pair were a power couple in their time on MAFS but split in November 2023, weeks after celebrating their one-year anniversary.

In May 2024, the reality star had been “flooded” with messages about her ex and wanted to share an update on where they stood.

“We don’t currently talk, no. Things, I would say, didn’t get left on the best terms and I think from my side it was best to stop contact,” she explained at the time.

She said it was “hard to talk about” and she still felt protective over Layton and did not want “things to be taken in the wrong way”.

“I believe that we went through enough to still be amicable if we ran into each other, if we needed something from each other,” she said.

“I still like to protect him when I can when I see something online, I will still go at a troll if I need to to protect him.

“But in regards to actually talking to each other, we don’t. When we broke up I stopped contact and that was just for me and my mental [health] because everything was just all a bit too much.

“You don’t know what could happen in the future and some days I’ll catch myself thinking about Layton or thinking about if time will change anything and all of that,” Melinda continued.

“But again, I haven’t heard from Layton so I don’t think there’s anything happening right now, sorry to break it to you guys.”
