Married At First Sight’s Jonathan McCullough has opened up about his relationship with co-star Ellie Dix – including whether there could be a proposal coming soon.
The couple – who weren’t matched on the experiment – faced a controversial start to their relationship after debuting their romance at the MAFS 2024 Reunion Dinner Party.
Jono, who is currently travelling around Australia with Ellie, hosted a Q&A with his 49,000 Instagram followers, giving insight into their relationship now and plans for the future.
Fans were keen planned to know when the couple would get engaged, to which Jono responded: “Easy tiger, it’s been six months 🐯😂”
Jono continued answering fans’ questions saying life post-MAFS was “pretty good” as he and Ellie have been doing “a loop” around the country for the past five weeks.
But that’s not the only travel plans they have this year: After their road trip, Ellie and Jono will continue their adventures with a trip through Turkey, France, the UK and Italy.
One fan asked how the couple, who live together on the Gold Coast, could afford to take so much time off work for travel.
“I did a lot of investing and saving through my 30s,” Jono responded.
“Started, grew and sold a few businesses.”
Another follower asked if their trip inspired them to move to another part of the country.
“We have loved so many places, like Broome where we are right now!” Jono replied. “But for the time [being], GC is home.”
He also revealed that he still speaks to many of his castmates, including Tim Calwell and Timothy Smith “most days”, as well as Lucinda Light, Andrea Thompson, Cassandra Allen, Stephen Stewart and Michael Felix.
Ellie and Jono were not matched during MAFS Season 11, but got together ahead of the Reunion. They made their controversial debut when they arrived at the event hand-in-hand, shocking their castmates including Jono’s former match, Lauren Dunn.
In his Q&A, Jono shared the moment he felt Ellie was the one for him.
“A couple weeeks after Final Vows we met for a coffee which ended up being drinks, dinner and more drinks. I realised that night she was pretty special.”
In an April 2024 interview with 9Entertainment, the couple revealed how they had dropped the L-bomb.
“We were drunk one night at a mate’s birthday party and Ellie was like, ‘I want to tell you something’,” explained Jono. “I was like, ‘I love you too’.”
