Married At First Sight’s Davina Rankin has marked 100 days without alcohol, admitting she’s “never felt better” and isn’t sure if she’ll ever drink again.
Davina decided to try a ‘no alcohol’ lifestyle in March 2024 and documented her experience after the major milestone on her social media.
“I’ve never been so productive, seen so much expansion in my businesses, felt so ‘ON’ easily, I literally jump out of bed at 4:45 everyday ready to tackle life,” she wrote.
“I always thought I needed a social drink in order to feel comfortable at events or around others but I’ve been able to sit up and speak in front of hundreds of women in this time without needing ‘Dutch courage’ at all!”
On her podcast Who Me?, Davina said it took some time to realise she was using alcohol as a crutch during social settings and speaking events.
“I can talk underwater, so what is this story I as telling myself that I can’t talk to a group of people without being a little bit tipsy?” she said.
She said she had a very social start to 2024 but for now, alcohol didn’t fit with her lifestyle.
“There’s too much of tomorrow that I want to live. I’ve got too much to do, I’m pumped about my job, I’m pumped about taking my daughter to the park and not feeling like I’m a sack of s–t.
“Now I’m like, I don’t want to compromise my time with that.”
On Instagram, Davina said she had enjoyed her sobriety so much she wasn’t sure if she would ever go back to drinking.
“I feel like my vibration is so high – I’m so happy and I enjoy people so much that without drinking I actually feel like I’m able to engage so deeply and take so much out of my interactions,” she said.
“I relied so heavily on social drinking, to ‘relax’, to ‘celebrate’, to ‘numb’. But now – I’m so happy within my skin I don’t feel like it’s necessary at all!”
