Chris Hughes was rushed to hospital with a mystery illness this week.
The former Love Island star, 31, took to Instagram on Friday to praise hospital staff as he promised his followers he was ‘on the mend’.
While he did not reveal what had led to his hospital admission, he expressed his gratitude to a friend for spending the night at his bedside as he received treatment.
Television presenter Chris wrote: ‘Took a turn Wednesday, the NHS staff were incredible.
‘Not just caring, friendly and all the things you’d expect, but more the way they conduct themselves.
‘The situations they deal with day in day out, and the way they’re spoken to on occasions shocked me.
‘Their patience is incredible and the staff are amazing. Really are unsung heroes so thank you.’
He added: ‘Also @jason.brightman I appreciate you, sat beside me for 10 hours through the night on a plastic chair without a second of sleep.
‘I think I could count on one hand the people who would have done that for me.
‘Maybe one and a half hands. On the mend anyway x.’
MailOnline has contacted representatives for Chris for comment.
It comes a year after Chris was hospitalised in another terrifying health scare.
The Love Island star, 30, took to Instagram at the time to reveal he had alcohol hepatitis after heading on a boozy night out.
Chris had to be admitted to hospital after a workout and sauna on Monday left his body severely dehydrated and unable to breakdown his alcohol consumption.
Chris said while he thought he was ‘sweating out’ the toxins, he was instead ‘torturing his body’.
Sharing a photo of himself in a hospital gown hooked up to an IV drip, Chris said one sip of water made him feel sick.
He wrote: ‘So basically all my antics on Saturday have caused this. When I was posting away about running that 4k, I was not truly hungover Sunday and Monday, but I was ‘chronically dehydrated and have alcohol hepatitis’… (not cool, not at all) where essentially my liver is damaged and couldn’t consume the alcohol consumption and the bloods have also showed that.’
He added: ‘Our NHS are insanely good, as we know. They’ve been thorough and over the top friendly which to me is the perfect combo. I haven’t managed to consume water that’s why I’m on this drip, a sip of water makes me feel sick.
‘I am ruined. I’ve learned my lesson. My issue though, quite clear.
‘Went for that run Sunday and I went to a class Monday and did a 45 minute circuit, burnt 550 calories then went to sauna to sweat again for 45 minutes. Thinking I’m getting the alcohol out but in fact I was just torturing my body.’
After finding fame on Love Island, Chris has forged himself a successful career as a horse racing presenter.
