Vanderpump Rules fans are still reeling from the news that the show is returning but with a brand new cast. Of course, much has been said regarding the reasoning for the reboot, but now Scheana Shay and Lala Kent are opening up about where they stand with the cast and how they have no plans to mend the broken relationships. Plus, they give their side of why the cast couldn’t be a part of the future of the show.
As fans know, it was recently announced that VPR will be getting the RHONY treatment. This comes after Bravo announced that there would be a pause in production following the divided season 11, which some fans felt showed producers trying to create a redemption arc for Tom Sandoval.
Lala and Scheana recently took to Scheana’s Scheananigans podcast to discuss the news of the entire cast not being asked back for season 12 as Lala explained why the show couldn’t move forward with the current cast.
Lala stated, “No one wanted to be around each other. No one was having fun. There was a storyline that, understandably, Ariana was like, ‘I don’t want to talk about him.’ And I’m like, ‘And that’s fine. I really don’t either, but there are cameras here, so we kind of have to.’”
She continued to say that the show was the last thing she cared about at the time as she was trying to get pregnant.
“I’m honestly just trying to get the best cum on the planet to get pregnant within a few months. Like this is the last thing I give a sh-t about.”
Lala then discussed the 11th season as a whole by saying, “That was the hardest season I’ve ever done in my life. But everyone was feeling it. No one wanted to be there. I think that was the other thing. I’m like, ‘There’s no more story.’ But also there’s such a vibe when cameras pick up and we’re all just like f–king ready to go. We’re ready to make great TV.”
When discussing the strained relationship she has with much of the cast, Scheana said, “I don’t think I will change anything that I have been [doing.]”
She explained, “I text Ariana [Madix] here and there. I ran into Katie [Maloney] at a festival, but I’m not going to reach out more [or] reach out less.”
Scheana then goes on to say that she’s happy about where she stands with everyone. According to her, “I’m just going to continue doing what I’ve been doing because show or no show, all of these people have been in our lives for so long. So it’s like, ‘When I see you, I see you. And when I don’t, I’m living my life.’ I’m just going to continue on the same path I’m on and excited for new adventures.”
Lala also chimed in and said, “I’ve got my circle right where I want it to be. It’s not that I for some reason am forgetting all of the bad stuff that happened. I’m sure other people have not.”
She continued, “But I don’t think I need to reach out to anybody. I’m happy in the space that I’m in.”
Lala then went on to say that the rest of the cast feels the same way. According to her, “It truly seems like everybody is [happy]. Maybe not [Tom Schwartz and Tom Sandoval.] I think the next chapter of their life [after Schwartz & Sandy’s closure] is going to be one to look forward to. I’m glad that this one’s ending for them as well.”
