Kyle Richards appears to be trying to distance herself from Annemarie Wiley as the newest addition to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills faces backlash for her treatment of their castmates, namely Sutton Stracke, whose esophagus condition she’s continuously questioned.
As Annemarie continued to spotlight the medical health of Sutton, 52, and argue with Crystal Kung-Minkoff, 40, about her profession, Kyle, 55, appeared on the radio show of Jeff Lewis, 53, where she responded to whether or not Annemarie was the “right fit” for the show” and addressed claims that she brought her to the show to do her “dirty work.”
“Here’s another, you know, misconception. I’ve read some things like, ‘Kyle brought in Annemarie to do her dirty work’ … I met her one time,” Kyle clarified on the January 23 episode of SiriusXM’s Jeff Lewis Live.
“They came to my home for an Agency party, and I ended up speaking to her husband [Marcellus Wiley] the whole time who was so nice, so funny and she was very quiet, but then when we were talking about who we could add to the show, I was like, ‘Oh. She’s my neighbor. She lives on my street,’ and she just stuck out in my mind,” Kyle continued.
According to Kyle, she didn’t actually spend any time with Annemarie outside of their initial meeting before they started production on the 13th season of RHOBH last year.
“I think the first time I saw her actually is when she joined the show after that,” Kyle explained. “So I reached out to her about joining the show and she was very nice, very outspoken, really into her fitness and I just thought she was cool and she was very opinionated.”
As for her performance on RHOBH season 13, Kyle admitted she “didn’t handle herself great.”
“I think when you have something like that, you’ve got to see the balance of other things too and I don’t think we really got to see that,” she noted.
Just as Kyle discussed her thoughts on the backlash Annemarie has received, Andy Cohen, 55, spoke of the matter during an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
“I want everyone to succeed,” he noted. “Social media is completely toxic and nasty and it is also something that you can’t be prepared for. It’s a nasty world.”
He then suggested that fans’ opinions of Annemarie may change amid upcoming episodes.
“I think the viewers will see a new side of Annemarie on the Spain trip,” he teased.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 13 airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
