I Am Lucky’: Olympian Emily Seebohm On Adjusting To Life As First-Time Parents With Mafs’ Fiancé Ryan Gallagher

It’s been a busy few months for Married At First Sight’s Ryan Gallagher and Olympic swimmer Emily Seebohm.

The couple welcomed their son Sampson in September 2023, and in an Instagram Q&A this week Emily opened up about adjusting to life as first-time parents.

Fans were eager to know how Emily has been juggling mum-life with training, as well as spending quality time with fiancé Ryan.

“I am lucky to be able to train thanks to my massive support crew to help me,” she began.

The new mum revealed that she trains six days a week (Monday to Saturday), sometimes two times a day in preparation for the Australian 2024 Olympic trials in June.

But with a four-month-old tot on her hands, she couldn’t do it without the help of Ryan and their family.

“Most mornings Sampson might still be asleep when I get home, which I love,” she continued.

“If not, Ryan is home playing with him and afternoons he is awake, but either with Ryan or my parents.”

Following in his mum’s footsteps, the parents have bub in the pool already.

“We do rhyme time at the library once a week and swimming once a week!’ she revealed.

Their son’s name was even inspired by a swimmer.

“We both had names that we loved individually but not together,” she wrote in response to one follower’s question.

“I was actually watching the swimming and saw a boy names Sampson and loved it. I sent it to Ryan, and he did too.

While Ryan plays a huge part in her life, one fan questioned why she “never posts” photos of the couple and their son together on her social media.

Emily replied with a totally relatable answer – it’s because they can never get a good photo together!

“I’m always taking the good shots,” she explained.

“Wait [until] you see the ones I get,” she said comparing her photos to the ones Ryan captures.

One fan took the opportunity to ask whether she does feel different postpartum.

“My body is pretty sore and stiff but that’s always been the case coming back from a break,” she replied.

“So [I] just take every day and give it all I have.”

The couple announced their pregnancy back in July with a sweet video.

“We’ve had a little bump in the road,” Emily captioned a clip of the pair on a beach.

The pair got engaged in December 2022, four months after they began dating, although they didn’t announce their engagement until March 2023.
