House Of The Dragon Fans Still Can’T Get Over This Deleted Scene

Fanbase is ready to storm the HBO office and demand for cuts to be released.

With season 2 of House Of The Dragon yet to begin filming, fans are left to re-watch season 1 and glean the last crumbs of behind-the-scenes details from every possible source.

Luckily, with such a large cast, there’s no shortage of cast Q&As, social media posts, and interviews that let viewers in on some things they didn’t know about the show.

For example, viewers learned about a deleted scene from episode 6 that shattered their hearts.

After the tragic death of Laena Velaryon, we see her two daughters, Baela and Rhaena, share a quiet moment with their father, Daemon Targaryen, that ends with him simply walking away.

No one expected Daemon to be a perfect father, but his lack of empathy for his own daughters in this heartbreaking moment was shocking to viewers.
Well, it turns out that the scene was supposed to be longer and include a hug that all three share in memory of their loving mother and wife.

This was confirmed by Eva Ossei-Gerning, who portrayed the young Rhaena and posted a picture of the hug on her Instagram profile.

As the actress later mentioned in the comments, the dialogue that was in the scene was improvised, which makes it even worse to see it gone.

It was a conscious decision to cut the scene, most likely due to the length of the episode. However, it was an unpopular one, with fans criticizing the showrunners for demonizing Daemon more than necessary.

“To think that even Daemon could just walk away from his grieving daughters is a bit too much. Even a monster would do better,” Redditor IvoryNitro said, also giving kudos to young actresses for keeping up an improve alongside Matt Smith, who portrays Daemon.

With House Of The Dragon being talked about for 3 to 4 seasons, there is a chance for every character, including Daemon, to redeem themselves.

While there is no news about the release date of the next season, fans would be grateful for the release of at least some deleted scenes.
