Here’S Why Summer Is Right To Suspect Claire On Young And The Restless

On The Young and the Restless, Phyllis played the voice of reason to Summer in the Thursday, May 9 episode. While that’s surprising, it almost feels like too much. In fact, perhaps Summer is right to still be worried about Claire being a danger to not only Harrison but also the entire Newman family.

A Mother’s Instinct

Claire (Hayley Erin) was one of Jordan’s (Colleen Zenk) victims. Sure, her story had holes in it, but Victoria (Amelia Heinle), Cole (J. Eddie Peck), and even Victor (Eric Braeden) bought her story. Because of their acceptance, even Phyllis (Michelle Stafford, who spilled this big secret) warned Summer that perhaps she was being too overprotective of Harrison (Redding Munsell).

Certainly, Harrison seems to love Claire, and by the looks of things, she seems to love him, too. However, it’s very hard to buy that Claire went through a few short weeks of in-patient therapy and overcame an entire lifetime of Jordan’s brainwashing. It just seems too pat.

Another thing that felt too pat was Diane (Susan Walters) showing up with no agenda. However, the cracks might be finally showing for her, too, after Jack (Peter Bergman) risked it all to help Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott). (Of course…this is a whole different story, but we’re intrigued by Diane’s anger.)

While it’s easy to dismiss Summer as possibly having jealous feelings about having another Newman cousin or maybe even Kyle (Michael Mealor) potentially having a connection with Claire, perhaps Summer is onto something. Maybe she should continue trusting her guy and insist that Claire stay away from Harrison.

What do you think? Should Summer trust her instincts here and continue insisting that Claire stay away from Harrison? Or, should she listen to Phyllis, and everybody else, and accept Claire into the Newman family, trying her out as Harrison’s new nanny?
