The cast of Grey’s Anatomy reunited as they scrubbed in for strike duty on Saturday. Members from the extensive cast of the medical drama — including Chandra Wilson, James Pickens Jr. and Kim Raver — gathered at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, Calif., for a picket line featuring cast members from various first responder and medical shows.
Sarah Drew, who played April Kepner on Grey’s, shared a video compilation of various photos and videos from the day, which included Wilson and Pickens Jr. — who play Miranda Bailey and Richard Webber, respectively — taking the microphone to speak to the big crowd.
Drew also shared photos with past and present Grey’s actors Kelly McCreary, Caterina Scorsone, Camilla Luddington and Jaicy Elliott. Jason George, who plays Ben Warren on Grey’s, also shared a video from the picket line on Instagram.
“We are out here on the line,” he said enthusiastically. “We are at Warner Bros. Studios. We are at a picket of all the first responder shows. We’ve got a whole bunch of people from your favorite medical shows. A bunch of people from your favorite firefighter shows.”
Standing in front of a red firetruck, Warren further explained, “We’re trying to make sure you all know the deal’s not done yet. The actors are still trying to get a deal that works for actors. We’re trying to make sure that the rank-and-file actor can still feed themselves when they work. It’s not a hobby, it’s a profession.”
The SAG-AFTRA strike — which largely centers around streaming residuals and the use of artificial intelligence — has now surpassed 80 days. On Monday, the union is set to meet with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) as contract negotiations between the two sides continue.
